Hanley Ronald James, 73, of Taylorsville passed away at his home on Friday, July 11, 2014.

Patsy Lee Smith Neal, 62, of Lenoir passed away July 10, 2014.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Jennie Crawford Walton, 94, of Cedar Rock Estates, Lenoir, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at her residence. She was born June 10, 1920, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late John Morgan and Lessie Watford Crawford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Carey James Walton Jr., and one brother, John Harris Crawford.
Mrs. Walton was an administrative secretary, bank teller and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir. She loved working at the church and playing Bridge and Golf.
Survivors include one son, Carey James Walton III and wife Denise of Lenoir; one daughter, Lessie Walton of Lenoir; two grandchildren, Caroline Land and husband Jon, and Jason Smith; five great-grandchildren, C.J. Walton IV, Megan Land, Matthew Land, Mabry Land and Bentley Smith; three sisters-in-law, Alyce Walton, Helen Walton and Lina Howard; first cousins, Riley P. Crawford and James O. Crawford, both of Wilmington, and Bettie Chadick of Laferia, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, July16, 2014, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lenoir conducted by Dr. David B. Smith and Dr. Thomas Hinton. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall at the church.

Louise Icenhour Prestwood, 77, of Granite Falls went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, July 11, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.
Born July 29, 1936, in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late Nealie Ader Icenhour and the wife of the late Bobby Gene Prestwood.
Other than her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vivian Prestwood.
She was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church and loved her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She had a love for the outdoors; gardening, fishing and loved to cook.
A very special “Thank You” to the staff of Caldwell Hospice Robbins Center for the wonderful and loving care that was shown to Mrs. Prestwood, especially her Hospice Angels, Barbara Jones, Donna Hart, Amy Umstead, Chaplain John Robbins and Dr. Thomas Ray. Mrs. Prestwood looked forward to all the visits so she could watch The Walton’s and Little House on the Prairie.
Mrs. Prestwood is survived by her two sons, Bobby Richard Prestwood and Gene Prestwood, both of Granite Falls; two brothers, Wallace Icenhour and wife Ann, and Danie Icenhour and wife Cookie, all of Hudson; two sisters, Shirley Lingle and husband Charles of Granite Falls, and Rosalee Canter of Boone; one aunt, Mary Ellison of Boone; six grandchildren, Jessica, Jonathon, Jordan, Julie, Audie, Marcus; and three great-grandchildren, Malachi, Waylon and Angel Dawn.
A celebration of Mrs. Prestwood’s life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with the Rev. Edd Warren and Chaplain John Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be James Pritchett, Tyler Keller, Jordan Grant, Randall Gragg, Michael Powell, Brian Harrison, Scott Greene and Steven Greene.

Annie Lee Turnmire Cox, 96, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Avante of Charlotte.
Born in Caldwell County on Sept. 15, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lee Turnmire and Mary Etta Cozort Turnmire. During World War II, Mrs. Cox was a First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps and later retired from the V.A. Hospital in Kerrville, Texas.
During the war, she performed as a singer and dancer for some of the troops. She was a member of the Catholic Church for many years in Texas and had attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church when able since she moved to Charlotte in 2000.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, in the chapel of Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Al Cadenhead officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Singing Tower Garden of Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. in the chapel prior to the funeral home.
Mrs. Cox is survived by a sister, Maude T. Sudderth, of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Cox Jr.; and her siblings, Jessie Wyke, Claudia Wyke, Henry S. Turnmire, Faunie Lenoir, Roxie Pearce, Ray Turnmire, Bernice Mabe and Tincey Blankenship.
