Violet Lee Lowman Hamby, 76, of Hickory died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 9, from 3-4 p.m. at Mackie Funeral Home in Granite Falls. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m.
Nancy Sue McGinnis, 52, of Valdese died Wednesday May 8, 2013, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Caroline Corpening Corbin, 65, of Lenoir passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir.
Mrs. Corbin was born in Caldwell County to the late Luther Corpening Sr. and Bessie Annie Mae Hood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Luther Corpening Jr.; one sister, Julia Ann Corpening; one sister-in-law, Loretta Corpening; and one brother-in-law, Lonnie Lipford.
Mrs. Corbin is retired from Lenoir Furniture after 36 years. She is of the Holiness Faith.
Mrs. Corbin is survived by a stepson, Kenny Vanderburg of Baltimore, Md.; five brothers, Paul Corpening of Lenoir, Larry Corpening and wife Paula of Morganton, Mark Corpening of Lenoir, Steve Corpening and wife Tammy of Conover, and Kelly Corpening of Lenoir; three sisters, Hazel C. Horton-Fonze of Lenoir, Cypress Gail Lipford of Lenoir, and Debra Jean Corpening of Lenoir; and one brother-in-law, Glen Colbert of Lenoir. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Corbin will be held Monday, May, 13, 2013, at 3 p.m. Pendry’s Chapel with Pastor Robert Hayes, Pastor Billy Joe Lipford, the Rev. Jerris Parsons and Evangelist Betty Lipford officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family of Mrs. Corbin will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Pendry’s Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Lipford, Fred Corpening, Mark Corpening, Terrance Baker, Elmer Johnson and Tony Wallace.

Larry Dean Chandler, 63, of Grandview Circle, Lenoir, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the residence. He was born May 16, 1949, in Caldwell County to the late Spencer “Doc” and Minnie Sumpter Chandler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne Chandler, Bill Chandler and Clarence “Shorty” Chandler, and one sister, Mary Williams.
Mr. Chandler was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include two brothers, Dennis Chandler and Jay Chandler, both of Lenoir; three sisters, Martha Martin, Ruby Murphy and husband Paul, Shirley Powell and husband John, all of Lenoir; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bill Bentley.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
