Obituaries for June 24, 2014
Kathryn Worley Osborne, 95, of 809 Kay Street, Lenoir, died June 21, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born on March 16, 1919 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Freda Russell and Robert Jackson Worley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Byron M. Osborne Jr., and her daughter, Margaret Ann Sarley.
Mrs. Osborne was a graduate of Radford College in Radford, VA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir. She was also a member of the Lenoir Woman’s Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the Confederacy.
Mrs. Osborne is survived by a daughter, Kathy O. Chandler and husband Robert, of Hudson; grandchildren Jennifer L. Fox and husband Shane, of Lenoir, Justin G. Chandler of Hudson; Casey S. Boseck and husband Martin, of Bel-Air, Maryland; and David M. Sarley Jr. and wife Leisa, of Huntersville; and great-grandchildren Ryan and Caroline Fox; Ashlea, Courtney, and Gracie Boseck, and David and Daniel Sarley.
The family extends warm gratitude to Mrs. Osborne’s caregivers: Claudia Dixon, Linda Perkins, Resha Shell, Sue Hartsoe, Shirley Moore, and the staff and nurses at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.
Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 3:00 pm with Reverend Bill Leathers officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 pm in the church parlor.

Charlie Eugene Hagee, 36, of Hickory passed away after a lengthy illness. He was born in Catawba County on Feb. 1, 1978, to and Sherry Ann South Blinson and the late Donald Gene Hagee. There are no services at this time.
Linda Church, 67, of Hudson died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice.
The family will receive friends at Mackie Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 24, 2014, from 11 a.m. to noon. A graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Garden in Lenoir.
Dean Webster Greer, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on Feb. 26, 1935, to the late Gonzalo Greer and Elsie Phillips Greer. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked at Broyhill Furniture Industries for more than 40 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Bob Phillips, Arlie Phillips, Harold Greer, and Herbert “Hub” Greer; and sisters Audrey Phillips, Avis Suddreth, and Lennis Eller.
Mr. Greer is survived by his daughter, Caren Hartley and husband, Mark of Boomer; brother James (Doug) Greer of Lenoir; sister Novella Davis of Blacksburg, S.C.; grandchildren, Matthew Hartley of Lenoir, Ethan Hartley of Boomer, and Megan Hartley of Boomer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mr. Greer will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 2:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service from 1 until 2 on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
