Billie Jo Clark
Billie Jo Clark, 78, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Caldwell County on Aug. 22, 1935, to the late Jacob Terrell Joplin and Effie Sumpter Joplin. She was married to Mack Clark of the home for 57 years.
Mrs. Clark retired from the North Carolina Transportation Bridge Division, where she worked as an administrative assistant for 30 years. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother Violet Ruth Stone Joplin, and her brother, Johnny Terrell Joplin.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Terry Clark and wife Jennifer; grandsons, Zach Clark and wife Emily, and Ethan Clark; brothers, Samuel C. Joplin of Hudson, Maynard V. Joplin of Hudson, Larry K. Joplin and wife Donna of Hudson, Dwight L. Joplin and wife Sheila of Hudson, the Rev. Harold D. Joplin and wife Carolyn of Granite Falls, James R. Joplin and wife Patricia of Lenoir, D. Ray Joplin and wife Cathy of Hudson, David S. Joplin and wife Tyra of Hudson; and sisters, Jean C. Joplin Sherrill and husband Bill of Conover, and A. Faye Joplin of Hudson.
A celebration of Mrs. Clark’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, Sept. 30, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Lonnie Bell officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 prior to the service.

Dolly M. Moretz, 101, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Brian Center-Viewmont.
She was born in Watauga County on Oct. 27, 1911, to the late William Lee Moretz and Almeda Church Moretz.
Mrs. Moretz was a wonderful caregiver to her family and enjoyed giving to others. She liked to sew and send her pieces to orphanages overseas.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Champ Moretz; brothers, Ivan Moretz and Dwight Moretz; and sisters, Emma Coffey and Bertie Moretz.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Swanson; grandchildren, Anita Bentley, Lisa Enloe, Janet Whisnant, Amy Billings, and James Scott; 11 great-grandchildren, including Brittany Enloe and Nikki Scott; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mrs. Moretz’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Phillip Coffey officiating. Interment will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery in Boone.
Pallbearers will be Derek Enloe Sr., Derek Enloe Jr., Devin Enloe, Brandon Scott, Hunter Enloe, and James C. Scott. Honorary Pallbearers are James H. Scott and Tony Helton.
