Stevenson Patterson Jr.
Stevenson “Big Steve” Patterson Jr., 27, of Harpertown Circle in Lenoir died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory.
Fleta Kerley Reid, 85, of Blue Ridge Circle in Lenoir passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice on Kirkwood Street in Lenoir after a brief illness.
Mrs. Reid was born in Alexander County on May 23, 1928, to the late Daniel and Maude Kerley. Upon her mother’s early death, she was reared by her beloved grandparents, Tobias and Martha Bumgarner. She was a member of Women of the Moose and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lenoir, where she recently joined the choir.
She is survived by her two children, Martha Herman and her husband, Kent, of Taylorsville; a son, Roger Reid and his wife, Sherry, of Lenoir; a granddaughter, Tanya Severt and her husband, Bobby, of Lenoir; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Branson Severt of Lenoir; a step-grandson, Scott Huffstetler of Raleigh; a step-granddaughter, Beth Coffey of Lenoir; a great-step-granddaughter, Morgan Phelps of Lenoir; a great-step-grandson, Grey Huffstetler of Raleigh; a brother, Willis Kerley of Kannapolis; and a sister, Evelyn Barnes of Taylorsville.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, July 6.
The service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Dr. Charles Dickson officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Bryant, Gary Clonch, Scott Huffstetler, Burton Reid, Bobby Severt and Branson Severt.
The family requests memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC 28645.

Mavis Christine Sipes McRary, 88, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on March 23, 1925, to the late Frank and Della Watson Sipes. She was married to the late L. Odell McRary.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers, Claude Sipes, Baynie Sipes, Leonard Sipes, Willard Sipes, Hubert Sipes, Doyle Sipes, and Eugene Sipes; and sister, Bessie Sipes King.
Mrs. McRary is survived by her sons, Richard B. McRary and wife Ruth of Frisco City, Ala.; Rodney D. McRary and wife Kathryn of Lenoir; R. Neil McRary of Lenoir; daughter, Cathy M. Hamby and husband Don of Hudson; grandchildren, Johnathan B. McRary and wife Tonia of Dillard, Ga.; Nikol McRary of Granite Falls; Erin M. Roper and husband Jake of Granite Falls; Justin K. McRary of Athens, Tenn.; R. Phillip Crump of Hickory; Nicholas P. Crump of Hudson; Timothy B. Crump of Hudson; Lindsey D. McRary of Lenoir; Billy Landriault of Texas City, Texas; Charles Landriault of Texas City, Texas; great-grandchildren, Logan McRary, Ian McRary, Justin Reid, Jackson Roper, Nora Landriault, and Kheegan Landriault; sister, Bernice S. Correll; and special sisters-in-laws, Shirley M. Sims and husband Keith, Blanche M. Reid, and Betsy M. McRee and husband John; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mrs. McRary’s life will be held at Union Baptist Church on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Myron Davis officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. McRary’s grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
