Brownie Coffey

Brownie Rines Coffey, 87, died Friday, July 5, 2013. Graveside services Wednesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery. Family visitation 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home. Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of local arrangements.

Dorothy Riggan

Dorothy Starnes Riggan, 92, of Hudson died Tuesday June 9, 2013, at Caldwell Regional Hospice.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2013, at Pinecrest Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Alma Keene

Alma Christine Keene, 83, of Smokey Creek Road, Lenoir, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Camelot Manor Nursing Center. She was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Burke County to the late Robert Johnson and Eva Franklin Coeburn.

Mrs. Keene was retired from Silver Top Manufacturing.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Schnick of Granite Falls and Sandra Huber of Tallmadge, Ohio; one brother, Doyle Johnson of Lenoir; two sisters, Nancy Vance and Elizabeth Vance, both of Lenoir; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A loving tribute to Mrs. Keene’s life will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the home of her sister, Elizabeth Vance, 4025 Smokey Creek Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.

The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Camelot Manor Nursing Center for the excellent care given to Mrs. Keene.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC 28645.

Lonnie Johnson

Lonnie Dale Johnson, 45, of Lenoir passed away on July 8, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 30, 1967, a son of Willie Elwood and Bertha Johnson Cole of Lenoir.

Lonnie was a mechanic and enjoyed four-wheeling.

Along with his parents, Lonnie has left to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Johnson of the home; daughters, Amanda Kaylor of Lenoir, Ashley Clawson and husband Jason of Elk Park, Amber Johnson of Lenoir, and Aimee Johnson of Lenoir; stepdaughters, Jennifer Wyatt of Lenoir, and Crystal Fenner and husband Charles of Lenoir; sisters, Irma Higgins, Donna Fillers, Linda Cole, and Jessica Bouillion, all of Lenoir; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lonnie Dale Johnson will be conducted on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the Grandfather Chapel with the Rev. Danny Cooke officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour.
