Alley Brooks

Mr. Alley T. Brooks, 82, of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.  Born June 29, 1930 in Wilkes County, Mr. Brooks was a son of the late Ed J. and Annie Elizabeth Treadaway Brooks and the husband of Mrs. Elaine Cathy Teague Brooks of the home.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vena Sawyer; three brothers, Will Brooks, Ed Junior Brooks and Ken Brooks.
He was a member of Grandview Park Baptist Church and had worked in furniture manufacturing.
Surviving other than his wife are three children, James Brooks and Josie of Wilkes County; Claude Brooks and wife Felicia of Elkin; Jerry Teague and wife Marie; two sisters-in-law, Carol Brooks; Mabel Brooks of Sonora, Ky.; special cousin and best friend, Linda Campbell; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  
A celebration of Mr. Brooks’ life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Grandview Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Spann officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m., until 3 p.m., in the church sanctuary.

Annie Caldwell

Mrs. Annie  Corean “Nana” Crisp Caldwell, 91, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Grace Heights Nursing Center of Morganton after a period of declining health. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1 p.m., at Fleming Memorial Chapel at Ebony Funeral Services. The family will receive from noon to 12:55 p.m., at the chapel. Burial will follow at Willow Tree AME Church Cemetery. Ebony Funeral Services of Morganton is caring for the family.

Linda Phillips

Linda Ann Church Phillips, 64, of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Caldwell County to the late James Hardis Church and Golda Fletcher Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hardis Junior Church and Ronda Church, and a sister, Mary Summerrow.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Quincy Phillips of the home; her son, Mark Quincy Phillips of Lenoir; three brothers, William Church and wife Donna, Frank Church and wife Minnie and Dennis Church and wife Neva; a sister, Barbara Wilson and husband Bob; three grandchildren, David Allen Phillips, Matthew Bowlin and Hailey Savannah Phillips.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2 p.m., at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Greene and the Rev. Robert Crane officiating.  Burial will follow at Confidence Advent Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 25, 2013 from 7-9 p.m., at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Phillips, Matthew Bowlin, Logan Greene, Scott Church, Gary Enloe Jr. and Tyler Peele.
The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
