Scottie Sigmon

Scottie Ray Sigmon, 30, of Hudson was called home to be with his dad on July 26, 2014.

Born on April 5, 1984, in Catawba County, he was the son of Theresa Scarlett Schwab and the late Danny Ray Sigmon. Scott was a loving fiance, son, father, brother, grandson, great-grandson, uncle, and friend. As a child he loved to arm wrestle, build model cars and play video games with his dad. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a UNC Tar Heels fan. Scott was a hard worker who was very talented. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He loved to spend time with his family, working in the yard, was such a loving and giving person who would give the shirt off his back if they needed it. He loved his LOUD MUSIC, BAGGY JEANS, and his JORDANS, he was a LOUD BOY.

In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Tony Sigmon, and Pastor John Ellis, Albert “Butch” Bradshaw, step-grandfather, Frank Griffin; stepbrother, Josh.

Survivors include his fiancée and high school love, Sherry Mounts; sons, Taryn Ray, Cameron Scott, Tristen Alexander, Jayce Scott Sigmon; stepsons, Shawn Thomas, Sheldon Lee Suttle; mother, Theresa Scarlett Schwab; grandparents, Peggy Griffin, Judy Carolyn Bradshaw, Ronnie Lee Scarlett and wife Jean; brothers, Phillip Barkley, Timothy Schwab; sister, Scarlett “Starlett” Schwab; nephew, Chandler Reigh Schwab; great-uncle, Bruce Ellis; aunts, Nan Whitener, Patrice Scarlett; uncles, Curtis Scarlett, Ray Scarlett, Patrick Scarlett; and numerous other family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Tony Childers officiating. Burial will directly follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bruce Winebarger Sr.

Bruce Edward Winebarger Sr., 49, of Boomer passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at his home. Born Feb. 16, 1965, in Wilkes County, Bruce was a son of the late Homer Tex and Lillie Porter Winebarger.

Bruce was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a dedicated friend to many. He enjoyed carp fishing and had worked as a Turning Lathe Operator in the furniture industry.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandchild, Destiny Faith Winebarger, and a brother, Ricky Winebarger.

Surviving are his wife, Tammy Duckworth Winebarger; three sons, Bruce Edward Winebarger Jr. and wife Chasidy of Boomer, Dustin Brian Winebarger and fiancé Ashleigh of Boomer, and Ryan Lee Winebarger of Boomer; one sister, Sherry Ann Robinson and husband Scott of Connelly Springs; and five grandchildren, Cassie Roberts, Kolt Winebarger, Brianna Winebarger, Lainey Faith Winebarger and Gage Winebarger.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with the Rev. Mike Minton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., one hour prior to the service.

Faye Holsclaw

Faye Mathis Holsclaw, 84, of Lenoir passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. Born Sept. 9, 1929, in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Fred B. and Lennie Henline Mathis. Mrs. Holsclaw was a member of First Baptist Church of Hudson, where she taught a Sunday School class and sang in the Church Choir for many years. She loved her Church and especially enjoyed the Media Center. Mrs. Holsclaw was a graduate of the former Caldwell Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Allman-Moore Furniture in Granite Falls for a number of years until taking a job as bookkeeper for Holbrooks in Lenoir and Hickory until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, R.B. Holsclaw Jr. of the home, and son Steven and wife Debra of Granite Falls. She also leaves behind one granddaughter, Elizabeth DeHaan and husband Andrew; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Virginia Beaver and husband Boyd of Charlotte, and Nancy Morrison and husband Lenus of Lenoir; one brother, Charles Mathis and wife Vickie of Granite Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Faye’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hudson on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mack Jarvis, Pastor Jim Hamby and Pastor Wade Dellinger officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cammron Morrison, Henry Morrison, Lenus Morrison, Andrew DeHaan, Chris Dan, Alice Yount, James Cannon, Ray Green, and Loretta Buchanan.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 prior to the service.

To honor the memory of Faye, the family requests that any memorial be made to the Media Center of First Baptist Church of Hudson, where she was a faithful member.

Adrienne Sigmon

Adrienne LaRaye Warren Sigmon, 92, of Simpsonville, S.C., passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014, in Mauldin, S.C.

Born March 7, 1922, in Melba, Idaho, Adrienne was a daughter of the late Hill Henry Warren and Charlcy Bradshaw Warren. Adrienne was of the Lutheran faith and had worked for 30 years as a service representative with Southern Bell. She was a member of the Pioneers and also enjoyed playing games. Some of the games she liked to play were Scrabble, Sudoku, Shuffle Board, Picture puzzles and Bingo. She will also be remembered by her family for being a great cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mae Warren Gilliam, Faye Warren Hadley and Afton Warren Smith.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Sigmon Starr and husband Dennis A. Beaudoin of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Keith Sigmon, wife Patricia, of Winter Park, Fla.; one granddaughter, Shelly Starr Sims, husband Mark, of Chapin, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Sims and Spencer Sims.

Adrienne’s wishes were for private services to be held at Pendry’s Chapel.

Michael Eugene Milhorne, 53, of Hildebran passed away on Friday July 25, 2014.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Full Gospel Sunrise Baptist Church, George Hildebran.
