The Rev. George Earl Wilcox, 83, of Hudson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.
Rev. Wilcox was the founder and host of the Showers of Blessings TV ministry for 47 years and was a minister and pastor for over 50 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved fulfilling his lifelong desire of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone with whom he came in contact. He was a blessing to so many with his outreach ministry and community involvement of helping others. He loved gardening and also enjoyed playing golf with his son-in-law. He attended Fruitland Baptist Bible College.
Born May 9, 1930, in Todd, he was the son of the late George Carl Wilcox and Rosalie Phillips Wilcox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Ila Mae Minton Wilcox, who passed away on Oct. 24, 2007, four brothers and four sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Steve Wilcox and wife Carolyn of Hildebran; daughters, Brenda Gragg and husband Alan of Granite Falls, Carol Conley and husband Bud of Claremont, Betty Emmett and husband Lynn of Granite Falls and Lisa Starnes and husband Henry of Granite Falls, and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, from 1-2 p.m. at Liberty Fellowship Church, 4139 Old Brittain Road, Hildebran, NC 28602. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Eugene Cantrell officiating. A private burial will be held for the family following the funeral.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Gragg, Chris Emmett, Derrick Boyles, Fred Johnson, Josh Gragg, Todd Boyles and honorary pallbearer Logan Boyles.

Allie Mae Icard Glover, born Feb. 19, 1951, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 23, 2012.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Wade Elmer Hare, 73, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013.
A memorial service will be Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, 2 p.m., at the First Church of God in Hickory.

Ruth Lee Jackson, 87, of Morganton passed away on Nov. 24, 2013. Service will be on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Catawba Funerals & Cremations. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Richard Smith Gilliland, 73, of Lenoir passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at his home.
Born Nov. 10, 1940, in Caldwell County, Richard was a son of the late Carlos and Bonnie Smith Gilliland. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He had a love for politics and was a big supporter of the American Cancer Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Roseanne Gilliland.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judy Mikeal Gilliland; a daughter, Erin Michelle Gilliland; a granddaughter, Emily Michelle Creger; a sister and brother-in-law, Laura Elizabeth and Tony Lingle; a nephew, Dr. Kevin Lingle and wife Kristin; a great nephew, Jack Lingle; he is also survived by numerous other relatives.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Uiyeon Kim, the Rev. John Herold and the Rev. Joe Parker officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
