Robert Mullinax Sr.
Robert Dennis Mullinax Sr., 66, of Hudson passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Mullinax was born in San Diego, Calif., to the late MT Mullinax Jr. and Louise Raby Mullinax. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Barrett; a grandson, Levi Mullinax; a nephew, Bradley Goforth; and a niece, Kathleen Crolla.
He was retired from the furniture industry, served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy McDade Mullinax of the home; his son, Robert D. Mullinax Jr. and wife Melisa of Granite Falls; his daughters, Melisa Mullinax Guy and husband Jonathan of Ohio, and Regina Mullinax of Hudson; a brother, Lynn Mullinax and wife Linda of Hudson; sisters, Rita Reese and husband Joel of Tennessee, Rebecca Bentley of Hudson, and Regina Goforth and husband Michael “Red” of Hudson; his grandchildren, Casey Mullinax, Samantha Mullinax, Charlie Mullinax and Taylor Mullinax; and a great granddaughter, Abby Mullinax.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 21, 2014, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Clyde Bumgarner, Mr. Tommy Jones and the Rev. David Jones officiating. The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Bentley, Lucas Bentley, Brian Mullinax, Landon Price, Joey Mullinax, Jordan Mullinax, Seth Nash, Ray Croon and Charlie Mullinax.

Mitchell Grant Smith, 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice. He was born in Caldwell County on March 20, 1927, to the late Edward Smith and Florence Hagaman Smith.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Smith, Harold Smith, Edward Smith Jr. and Johnny Smith; and his sisters, Katy Smith, Mildred Robbins and Ollie Smith.
Mitch is survived by his children, Sandra Smith Libera, Grant Smith, and Keith Smith and wife Karen; half-brothers, Wayne Smith, William Smith, and Warren Smith; half-sister, Laura Parton; grandchildren, Mitchell Libera, Steven Libera, and Jason Libera; and great-grandchildren, Dawson Libera and Katie Libera.
A graveside service for Mitch will be held at Harper’s Chapel Cemetery on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Raymond Spann officiating.
Pallbearers will be Steve Libera, Joe Smith, Mike Moffett, Tom Austin, and Gerald Brittain.

Darrell Nicholas Ward, 59, of Taylorsville died Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
A service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Millersville Baptist Church in Taylorsville. The family will receive friends 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton.
