Ned Albert Hall, 70, of Granite Falls passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hall was born March 15, 1944, in Caldwell County to the late Albert Monroe Hall and Toyie Jane Goble Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ellis Junior Hall and William Elbert Hall, and his sisters, Garnette Marie Hall Townsend and Billie Fern Hall, and brother-in-law, Wade A. Austin. He was a retired truck driver with the furniture industry.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diana Sue Roberts Hall of the home; his daughter, Karen H. Reid and husband Danny of Granite Falls; his son, Kevin A. Hall and wife Robin of Granite Falls; his grandchildren, Jessica Nichole Reid, Kellie Alicia Hall, Jennifer Michelle Reid and Joshua Andrew Hall; his sisters-in-law, Ezma Austin and Rosie Hall; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Darrell and Harolyn Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Hall will be private.

Nancy Lee Sugg Auman, 80, of Terrell succumbed to cancer on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.
She was the faithful partner of her late husband, the Rev. George E. Auman, in his 40 years of ministry in the Western North Carolina Methodist Church. After attending High Point College, Nancy began her career of nurturing family and friends in every parish. Together Nancy and George served churches in the N.C. Piedmont, including Red Cross United Methodist Church, Randolph County Center UMC, Oak Grove UMC, Salem UMC in Davie County, Badin UMC, Mount Tabor UMC in Winston-Salem, Homestead UMC in Charlotte and Pineville UMC in Pineville, First Church Mocksville UMC, Central UMC in Kings Mountain, Pine Grove UMC in Winston-Salem. They retired and were welcomed into the church family of Mount Pleasant UMC in Sherrills Ford. Nancy’s secretarial and administrative skills were shared with Central UMC in Albemarle, Westinghouse in Charlotte, Pilot Freight in Winston-Salem, and Plonk Textiles in Kings Mountain.
Her most cherished job outside the home was receptionist at Abernethy Laurels (in the 1990s), where she was lovingly cared for in her last weeks.
Nancy leaves behind her daughter, Belinda Suddreth and husband Ray Suddreth Jr. of Lenior; son, George Milton Auman and wife Terri of Statesville; and was proud of her four grandsons, Clay and Kyle Suddreth, and Cameron and Jared Auman. Nancy’s extended family includes her brother, Jack Sugg and wife Phyllis of Seagrove; sisters-in-law, Marlene Copeland and husband Woody, Norma Williamson, Mary Adams, and Mary K. Auman; and brother-in-law, Lester Auman. She cherished every niece and nephew and their children living throughout N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Sherrills Ford, with the Rev. Ken Curtis officiating. Also a graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery in Seagrove. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service in the church.

James Edward Caldwell Jr., 50, of Morganton passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Ebony Funeral Services of Morganton.
Cecelia Yvonne Newcomb, 73 of Connelly Springs died Friday, March 14, 2014.
A memorial service will be held in the Bass-Smith Granite Chapel on Saturday, March 22, 2014, and the family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
James Helton, 83, formerly from Granite Falls, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Maryland. He was born April 25, 1930, son of the late Cartis Wade and Toye P. Keller Helton. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Coffey Furniture as a sawmill mechanic. He was a member of Bethel Advent Christian Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Jeanie Shockey; one son, James Charles Helton; one granddaughter, Jessi Michelle Cowdrick; and longtime girlfriend, Evalee Stone, all of Maryland.
He is preceded in death by both parents; one infant child; and one sister, Pauline Smith
The family will receive friends at Mackie Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 23, at 3 p.m. with the body lying in state 2:30 to 3 p.m. The Rev. Myron Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
Oak Hill High School graduating class of 1948 will be honorary pallbearers.
