Jeffrey Dean Buchanan

Jeffrey Dean Buchanan, "Jeff," 54, of Granite Falls passed away in the loving arms of Our Heavenly Father on April 1, 2013. Born Nov. 9, 1958, to his beloved late mother Sylvia Hildebran Buchanan and Billy Dean (Rebecca) Buchanan of Granite Falls. Jeff will remain a champion of fighting the good fight against crippling rheumatoid arthritis, which caused the failure of his kidneys and other organs that took his life. His heart remained full of faith, which surpassed human understanding, through all of his suffering.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed each day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

2 Corinthians 4:16 -18 NIV

Jeff was a loyal and devoted son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his loving sister, caregiver, and best friend, Tamra (Tammy) Buchanan of the home.

He is also survived by his brother Allen (Traci) Buchanan of Longview; his beloved nieces and nephews, Alex Buchanan of Longview, Adam (Alexis) Buchanan of Granite Falls, Angela Buchanan of Hudson, Ashley (Wesley) O'Brien of Pensacola, Fla., Abby Casteel of Longview and Aaron (Sierra) Casteel of Nicholasville, Ky., including one great-niece, Cienna Casteel of Longview.

Jeff was a member of Hudson First Baptist Church. He enjoyed studying the Word Of God with the members of his Sunday school class including their special outings and fellowships that gave him something to look forward to. He accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at a young age at Central Baptist Church in Hildebran. Jeff was full of life and curiosity. He loved trail-biking, horseback riding and building tree houses that led to his greatest house design, his beautiful home in Granite Falls. Jeff is remembered as a gentle man filled with a loving and caring nature. His smile always filled the heart.

The family will receive friends for the lie in state from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at Hudson First Baptist Church in Hudson. The service will begin at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mack Jarvis III officiating. Interment will follow and will be held at Catawba Memorial Park. Family and friends may return to Hudson First Baptist Church at the conclusion of services for a meal.
