Kadyn and Kylan Whisnant
Kadyn Jeremiah Whisnant and Kylan Nicolas Whisnant, infant sons of Taylor Kirby and Marcus Whisnant, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Mission Health in Asheville.
A memorial service will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church on Monday, June 30, 2014, at 5 p.m. with Pastor Eric Lane officiating.

Virginia Houser Gordon, 74 of Hudson passed away Thursday June 26, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Ms. Gordon was born on March 11, 1940, in Burke County to the late Augustus Lee Houser and Pauline Deal Houser. She was retired from Thomasville Furniture in Cabinet Assembly, and was a former member of High Peak Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Michael W. Gordon of Morganton, Douglas L. Gordon of Hudson, Alan C. Gordon of Anderson, S.C., Phillip K. Gordon of Greenville, S.C., and Tina G. Trivette and husband Johnny of Deep Gap; two brothers, Harvey Houser of Morganton and Donald Houser of Rock Hill, S.C.; also surviving are eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday June 29, 2014, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Officiating will be the Rev. Dennis Whitt. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

Robert Allen Smith, 82, of Hudson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Shaire Center, Lenoir.
Born Sept. 26, 1931, in Burke County, he was the son of the late William R.Smith and Pansy Belle Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Hillard Smith.
Mr. Smith was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as choir director and deacon. He was a retired supervisor from Lenoir Mirror with 42 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine “Hammond” Smith of the home; five daughters, Denise Buff and husband Carroll of Hickory, Darlene Story and husband Ronald of Lenoir, Diane Franklin and husband Glen of Hickory, Terrie Swanson and husband Randy of Granite Falls, and Pam Murphy and husband Phil of Hudson; two sons, Allen Smith of Granite Falls, and Byron Smith and wife Osha of Hickory; grandchildren, Dean Buff, Nicole Buff, Kevin Story, Preston Story, Glenn Franklin II, Elliot Franklin, Tim Swanson, Kristin Austin, T.J. Smith, Jordan Smith, Cameron Smith, Colt Riley Smith (Papaw’s Baby Boy); six great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren; four brothers, Rodney Smith, Dale Smith, Danny Smith, Willard Guy Smith; and four sisters, Audrey Smith, Penny Smith, Sabra Haigler, and Sandra Miller.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30, 2014, 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Floyd Perry and the Rev. Edd Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bass-Smith Granite, Sunday, June 29, 2014. Acie Allen Spade, 73, of Sawmills passed away on Friday June 27, 2014.

Ruby Gilbert Seehorn, 91 of Lenoir passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at her residence. She was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Gaston County to the late David Lee Gilbert and Maude Absher Gilbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted” R. Seehorn; one brother, Ralph Gilbert; and one sister, Polly Stone.
Mrs. Seehorn was retired from Blue Ridge Electric as the Caldwell District Manager. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lenoir.
Survivors include one son, Thomas F. Seehorn of Morganton, and two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Lawson and husband Barry of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Cindy Seehorn and husband Michael Huntley of Lenoir. Also, she is survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 30, 2014, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be private.
