James Coolidge Calloway, 77, of Hudson, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care – Robbins Center.
Born November 19, 1935 in Watauga County, he was the son of the late Donald Blaine Calloway and Dorothy Dretha Davis Calloway.
Mr. Calloway retired from Singer Furniture as supervisor of the sand room, after many years of service. He loved the outdoors, gardening and was a fan of Nascar racing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Sue Sparks Calloway, who passed away on January 21, 2010, and one brother, Major Bruce Calloway.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Wesley Blaine Calloway of Hudson; two daughters, Vickey Roberts and husband Brian Roberts of Valdese, and Carol Hicks of Hudson; three grandchildren, Jacob Hicks, Emily Hicks, both of Hudson, and Benjamin Roberts and wife Krissy Roberts of Granite Falls.
He also leaves behind three brothers, Kenneth Calloway and wife Faye Calloway; Jack Calloway and wife Mary Calloway, all of Hudson, and Claill Calloway and wife Shirley Calloway of Lenoir, and two sisters, Captolia Trivett of Hickory, and Deanna Smith and husband Bud of Lenoir.
Funeral services honoring Mr. Calloway will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at Pendry’s Chapel with the Reverend Alan Younce officiating. The service will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m.
