Brian Seagle

Brian Keith Seagle, 47, passed away Dec. 15, 2012 in Hot Springs, N.C.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Larwence Seagle Jr. and Mary Greer Seagle. Brian was of the Baptist faith. He attended Hibriten High School. He is survived by his stepmother, Loree Seagle; brothers Michael Seagle, David Severt (Debb); sisters Donna White (Larry), Brenda Cannon (Keith), Shannon Grindstaff; stepbrothers Norman Chandler and Jerry Chandler (Kim); stepsisters Mitzi White, Nancy Bryant and Francine Guild.
A memorial service will be held at Clarks Chapel Baptist Church at 2 p.m.,  Wednesday, Dec. 19. All family and friends welcome.

John Cloer

Mr. John Bartley “J.B.” Cloer, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Hudson. He was born in Caldwell County on April 26, 1929 to the late James Cloer and Mattie King Cloer. He was married to the late Ella Mae Annas Cloer for more than 50 years.
J. B. was best known as “Mailman,” having served the Hudson area for many years as a mail carrier. He was a recipient of the Hudson Man of the Year award and served as a mentor at Hudson Middle School for the Communities in Schools program. J.B. often said that “he was born on one side of the hill and lived the rest of his life on the other side of the same hill.” He was very active in Friendship Baptist Church where he served in many different capacities including, Sunday School teacher and deacon.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Pauline Cloer, Charlotte Elrod, Granvel Cloer and Weeta Fair.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Cloer Price, and husband, Edwin Price, Jr.; son, John K. Cloer; brother, Boyd Cloer and wife, Kathryn; grandchildren, Edwin Price, III, Sue Ellen Fankhauser,  Alicia Barlow and Brandon Rose; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of J.B.’s life will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Robert Setzer, Pastor Lonnie Bell, and Pastor Raymond Spann officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to the service.

Allen Coffey

Allen Blake Coffey, 55, of Huffman Road, Lenoir died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the residence. He was born April 25, 1957 in Caldwell County to Johnsie Day Bryant of Lenoir and the late Blake Coffey.
Mr. Coffey was a lift driver for Bernhardt Furniture and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Paula Huffman Coffey of the home; a daughter, Angela Coffey of Lenoir; stepfather Thomas Nelson of Lenoir; a sister, Carol Key of Kernersville; and two granddaughters, Makayla Coffey and Mariah Coffey.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 4 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Phillip Hawkins.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Rickey Ingel

Rickey H. Ingel, 73, of Rocky Mount Road, Lenoir died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care - Hudson. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dan Nelson

John Daniel “Dan” Nelson, 87, of White Dogwood Lane, Morganton died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Lenoir HealthCare Center. He was born August 2, 1925 in Caldwell County to the late R.S. and Lillie Craig Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Ann Nelson; a sister, Ruth Edwards; and four brothers, Lawrence Craig, Bert, Bill and Roger Nelson.
Mr. Nelson was a self-employed painter and was a member of Littlejohn United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Methodist Men’s Choir and member of Gamewell Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Mikeal Nelson of the home; one brother, Paul Nelson of Lenoir; two sisters, Christine McCreary of Baton and Elizabeth Mikeal of Lenoir; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Littlejohn United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Allen Boliek.
Serving as pallbearers will be Horry Kent Jr., Mike Kent, Tony Mikeal, Mike Mikeal, Dean McFalls and Robert Crawley.
