Misty Honeycutt

Misty Lorraine Crowe Reames Honeycutt, 42, of Mariners Point Lane, Hickory, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the residence. She was born Nov. 6, 1970, in Caldwell County to Monty W. and Joyce Green Crowe. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, the Rev. Max C. Green and Kathleen Gragg Green; paternal grandmother, Mamie Crowe; three aunts; and one cousin.

Ms. Honeycutt was a homemaker.

Survivors in addition to her parents include two sons, Steven A. Reames of Bethlehem and Dylan J. Honeycutt of the home; one brother, Michael W. Crowe of Sawmills; nephews, Elijah Wayne Crowe and Orian Max Crowe; and grandfather, Ed Crowe.

A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at 12 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Bryan McDevitt and the Rev. David Benfield. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Madison Gragg Cemetery in Avery County.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be cousins, Shawn L. Williams, Shane Gragg, Gunar Holland, Jon T. Crowe, Adrian Z. Crowe and Jeff Daniels.

Malcolm Smith

Malcolm Randall “Randy” Smith, 65, of Central Avenue, Granite Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care – Hudson. He was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Caldwell County to the late Paul G. and Mildred Barlow Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brette Jensen.

Mr. Smith was self-employed in floor covering. Randy was best known for his love of family and friends, sense of humor and most of all his love for the Lord.

Survivors include his best friend and longtime partner, Ann Rappaport; two daughters, Kim S. Wyke and husband Jason of Lenoir, and Kelly S. Jensen and husband Michael of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Brent Smith and J. Baxter Smith, both of Hickory; sister, Paula Smith Pritchard of Raleigh; grandchildren, Dustin Williams, Luke Jackson, Tobias Jensen, Ruby Jensen, Journey Jensen, Learyn Jensen and Mekayla Wyke.

Funeral services will be held, Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Tim Pritchard. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Dustin Williams, Luke Jackson, Tony Sanders, Joe Sanders, Jason Wyke and Joe Barringer.

Brenda Auton

Brenda Lee Auton, 72, of Draco Road, Lenoir, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1941, in Caldwell County to the late Robert L. and Toye Leona Roberts Auton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Arvil L. Auton, and a sister, Lynda B. Wagner.

Ms. Auton was a member of Bethel Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Steve R. Auton of Lenoir and Roger D. Auton of Taylorsville; sisters, Peggy M. Gryder of Granite Falls, Shirley S. Burns and Phyllis A. Carson, both of Lenoir, and Reba L. Phillips of West Jefferson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Advent Christian Church conducted by the Rev. Jerry Burnette. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mitchell Haskett

Mitchell Hampton Haskett, 96, formerly of Lenoir, went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruby Passmore Haskett; two children, Laura Ann Hall and husband Dewight of Bellmont, and Charles Haskett of Lenoir; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home in Franklin. The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 30 from 1-2 p.m.

Terry Kirby

Terry Atlas Kirby, 61, of Granite Falls died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

A private service will be held. The family will receive friends at Bass-Smith Granite, Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
