The world is a little less bright with the loss of our sister, aunt, niece, and friend, Betty Lee Bower, who left us on Jan. 15, 2014. Betty was a spirited, determined, creative soul. She loved gemstones, the beach, birds (esp. Keet), singing, her kitty Dali, playing the piano, the mountains of North Carolina, and her family.
Born and raised in Ohio, she also made her home in Florida and California before coming “back home” to N.C.
She was an artist, a doting aunt, a loyal sister, and a beloved partner and friend.
She was “big sister” to David Bower of Charlotte, John Bower (wife Laura) of West Jefferson, Marguerite Moltz (husband Ray) of Blowing Rock, and Virginia Bower of Asheville; and partner to Orion Levi, Blowing Rock. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Dave Bower, and her sister Kathy Bower (1952-1969). She is also survived by her uncle David Barnes of Lenoir, her aunt Sally of Mountain City, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews: Johnny and Addie Bower; Rachel, David and Jenny Moltz; Nola and Marin Bower-Smith; Sarah and David (IV) Bower; Tilley Bower, grand-neice; and Ira Paterni, grand-nephew.
A remembrance gathering is planned for friends and family with that date to be determined. We love you Betty and miss you greatly!
