Mabel Teague

Mabel Sherrill Teague, 89, of Granite Falls died April 30, 2013, at Hospice House of Catawba Valley.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1924, in Caldwell Co. to the late J. Henry and Myra Smith Sherrill.

Mrs. Teague was employed by Shuford Mills Inc. for over 40 years, active in her community, elected to the town council of Granite Falls, and served as long-time treasurer for First United Methodist Church, Granite Falls.

Mrs. Teague was preceded in death by her husband, Gene H. Teague Sr.; two sisters, Thelma Carpenter of Hickory and Frances Cline of Salisbury; three brothers, Joe Sherrill of Granite Falls, James Sherrill of Lenoir and Bob Sherrill of Hickory.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gene H. Teague Jr. and wife Libby of Hickory, and David S. Teague of Erwin, Tenn.; a grandson, Zachary B. Teague of Hickory; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 3, at First United Methodist Church in Granite Falls. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Valley Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658, or First United Methodist Church-Granite Falls, 9 Lakeside Ave., Granite Falls, NC 28630.

Lisa Stephenson

Lisa Delores Stephenson, 44, of Beckys Drive, Lenoir, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the residence. She was born Feb. 21, 1969, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Bobby Wayne Waldon and Martha Betty Joyce Thomas Waldon.

Mrs. Stephenson was a member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church. She loved her God more than anything. Her husband was her life and world. She loved him until she died. She loved her children and grandchildren. They lit up her world. She had a big heart for everyone she met. She is now home with God, her four babies, one grandchild, her parents and a brother, Ricky Waldon.

Survivors include her husband, Richard “Pig” Ray Stephenson I of the home; daughter, Martha “Savannah” Stephenson of Lenoir; sons, Richard “Bubba” Ray Stephenson II and wife Nicole Marie, and Zachery George Stephenson and wife Tiffani, both of Lenoir; sisters, Catherine Waldon of Charlotte, Linda Waldon of Texas, and Virginia Owensby of Missouri; brother, Charles Waldon of Alabama; grandchildren, Charity Marie Stephenson, Kyle Blake Homer Parton, Stephanie Crawley, Madyson Stephenson and Aubree Stephenson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church (www.flemingschapel.org) conducted by Dr. Scott M. Shoffner. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Overseer Juristine Corpening Caldwell, 67, of Lenoir passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
