Barton Bernard Potter, 72, a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, Granite Falls, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday May 1, 2013, at his home in Granite Falls. He was born Aug. 26, 1940, in Watauga County to John O. Potter and Cora Lee Reece Potter.
He is preceded in death by both parents; one son, J.C. Potter; one grandson, Matthew Potter; one granddaughter, Emily Potter; four brothers, Fred Potter, Daine Potter, Howard Potter and John O. Potter; and one sister, Thelma Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Pat Owens Potter; four sons, Donnie Potter and wife Sarah, Terry Potter and wife Terri, Gary Potter, and Adam Potter, all of Granite Falls; two daughters, Kathy Ingle of Morganton, and Judy Norris of Hudson; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Derek, Dustin, Devin, Bethany, Aaron, Danielle and Blake; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Kahlyn; and one sister, Juanita Hammons of Hickory.
The family will receive friends at Solid Rock Baptist Church, Granite Falls, on Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 11 a.m. till 12 noon. Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon with the Rev. Jerry Stines officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Sunset Park in Mountain City, Tenn.
Mr. Potter’s grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.

Earl Lovins II
Earl C. Lovins II, 31, of Crown Court, Lenoir, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the residence. He was born Jan. 11, 1982, to Earl C. Lovins of Hickory and Rhonda Collins Gragg and husband Paul of Lenoir. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Heather Lovins Cook and Alisha Sanders.
He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include one daughter, Allison Lovins of Lenoir; one brother, David Sanders of Lenoir; and sister, Rebecca Blevins of Lenoir.
Memorial services will be held Monday, May 6, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Sam Craven.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his mother, Rhonda C. Gragg, 4493 Crown Court, Lenoir, N.C. 28645.

Wayburn Artrina Shoemaker Ingle, 82, of Granite Falls went home to be her Lord and Savior Thursday, May 2, 2013, at College Pines Nursing Center in Valdese.
She was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Caldwell County to the late Marvin and Callie Benge Shoemaker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Daniel Ingle, and two sisters, Ardell S. Day and Geneva S. Johnson.
Mrs. Ingle was a member of First Baptist Church Hudson and was retired from Industrial Seaming.
She is survived by her son, Charles Gregory Ingle and his wife, Cheryl; a granddaughter, Carla Ingle Ray and her husband, Michael; a great-grandson, Silas Ray; and a brother, Eddie Shoemaker.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Hudson, with the Rev. Mack Jarvis III, the Rev. Jim Hamby, and the Rev. Nancy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Neal and Trevin Triplett, Austin St. Clair, Ronnie Colvard, Michael Ray, and Ronnie Reid.

Fearless, faithful, determined, zealous, powerful and in love with God describes this great woman. Overseer Juristine Corpening Caldwell, 67, of Lenoir went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Caldwell was born in Caldwell County to Overseer Irene Moore Corpening of Lenoir and the late Archie Arthur Corpening. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jonathan Corpening and a sister, Joyce Corpening.
She has been preaching the word of God since 1973. She was ordained in 1974, under the leadership of Bishop J.G. Simenton and Overseer Irene Corpening. She was Assistant Pastor of Bible-Way Church #3 for over 14 years. She worked faithfully on many organizations at the church, some of which she founded. She was an advocate for the Pastor. She was in charge of the pastoral aide where she produced outstanding results yearly. She worked in the evangelistic field many years which inevitably prepared her for a greater calling. Through obedience a great work for the Lord was completed. She was the founder and organizer of Operation Love Inc. and a member of the Executive Board of The Church of The Living God Pillar and Ground of the Truth Inc.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carrie Foddrell (Darrin), Evangelist Irene Caldwell, Pauleisha Caldwell, all of Lenoir, and Cassandra Jefferson (Kevin) of Virginia; her adopted son, Elder Christopher Daniels (Sharon); her brothers, James Corpening, Elder Jackie Corpening (Tammy), Douglas Corpening (Leslie), Michael Corpening (Jennifer) and Arthur Eugene Corpening (Linda); her sisters, Assistant Pastor Corinthia Dula( Roger), Rosemarie Hood; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; one god-daughter, Minister Tanisha Hall McCorkle (Fred); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, at J.E. Broyhill Civic Center at 3 p.m. with Dr. Lonnie Gray officiating and Evangelist Irene Caldwell and Elder Jeffrey Griffin as the Eulogists. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the Civic Center.

She was faithful, she was dedicated, loving, beautiful and she was our hero of faith, awesome Overseer, mother, and friend of God. Overseer Caldwell was truly gifted in raising the praises of God.

Daniel Brown, 77, of Morganton died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. Born on April 30, 1936, in Burke County, he was the son of the late Solen and Mary Looney Brown.
Mr. Brown was the Gate Keeper for Steele Creek Park for 30 years. He had a love and passion for fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Farrington. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sarah Hunt Brown; children, Susan Duncan and husband Greg of Collettsville, Christopher Allen Hamby and wife Carol of Hudson, and Matthew Adams and wife Amy of Lenoir; grandchildren, Brandon Matthew Farrington, Cody Myers, Jordan Hamby, Timmy Hamby, Taylor Adams, Grace Smith and Mackenzie Adams; brothers and sisters, Solen Mack Brown of Amelia, Va., Claudette Hood of Statesville, John Brown of Butler, Tenn., Myrtle Parker of Morganton and Hazel Loven of Morganton; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special “little friend,” Hopie.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Zion Baptist Church, 3396 Pea Ridge Road, Morganton, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph May, the Rev. Dr. Steve Parker, the Rev. Keith Rose and the Rev. Brian Smith officiating.

Dell Setzer Jr.
Odell “Dell” Sinclair Setzer Jr., 69, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born in Caldwell County on Sept. 7, 1943, to the late Odell Sinclair Setzer Sr. and Ruby Estes Setzer. He was married to Malona Bean Setzer of the residence for 45 years.
Mr. Setzer was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from General Electric. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Mr. Setzer dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was patriotic and not ashamed to wave the colors of the flag.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Stacy Setzer and wife Cynthia of Lenoir; son, Jeffrey Setzer of Lenoir; brother, Joe Setzer of Lenoir; grandchildren, Joshua Setzer, Sebastian Setzer, Allyson Setzer, Colton Ryan Setzer; Jenna Wallace, John Godbey, Kaitlyn Peters; and great-granddaughter, Abbigail Wallace.
A celebration of Mr. Setzer’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 3 with Pastor Phillip Hawkins officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 prior to the service.
