Frank Carlton

Frank William Carlton, 71, of Boomer died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born in Wilkes County to the late Albert and Lizzie Pope Carlton.

Mr. Carlton was retired from the furniture industry after 52 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Setzer Carlton of the home; one son, David William Carlton and wife Amanda of Boomer; one brother, Woodrow Carlton of Boomer; one sister, Mary Blackburn of Boomer; two grandchildren, Jake and Eli Carlton; and two nephews, Stanley Blackburn and Louis Blackburn, both of Boomer.

All services will be private.

Paul Sullivan

Paul Wilson Sullivan, 72, of Morganton died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Grace Hospital. Born Oct. 27, 1941, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Loy Philmore Sullivan and Pearl Mash Sullivan. Paul loved deer hunting and was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene Sheffield Sullivan of the home; sons, Mark Wilson Sullivan and wife Sherrie. and Gregory Allen Sullivan and wife Tammy, all of Morganton; a grandson, Cody Allen Sullivan; a step-granddaughter, Tabitha Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Tailynn and Braydon; and a sister, Gail Harmon of Hudson.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at Burkemont Baptist Church with Dr. David Mills, the Rev. Eddy Bunton, and the Rev. Kevin Uhrich officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service. Memorial gifts may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church Building Fund, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.

Eddie Hall

Eddie Wright Hall, 67, of Overlook Drive, Lenoir, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born Feb. 5, 1947, in Caldwell County to the late Monroe and Betty Craig Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Helton; and Ivey Gene Craig.

Mr. Hall was retired from Sealed Air and was a member of Whitnel First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Brenda Bowman Hall of the home; stepdaughter, Lisa Edgins and son Nathan of Granite Falls; and stepsons, Jeff Tolbert and wife Kim of Virginia and sons Joshua and Christopher, and Mark Tolbert and wife Becky of Apex and their daughters, Abby and Sarah.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Whitnel First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Don Ingle, the Rev. Stuart White and the Rev. Ed Warren. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

John Whisenant

John Richard Whisenant, 93, of Lenoir died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Westwood Hills Nursing Home in Wilkesboro. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory.

Wayne Crunkleton

Wayne Eugene Crunkleton, 71, of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory.

Kathy Hudson

Kathy Suzzette Jones Hudson, 50, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born in Catawba County on Aug. 11, 1963, to Betty Austin Jones and the late Bobby Gene Jones Sr.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Eugene Jones, and sister, Candy Jones Hayes.

Other than her mother she is survived by her son, Michael Mercer of Danielson, Conn.; brothers, Bobby Jones Jr., Christopher Jones, and Jeff Jones; sister, Nancy Crowder; seven stepbrothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service for Kathy will be held at Harris Chapel Baptist Church on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Jim Hamby officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service.
