Charles Eugene Triplett, 73, passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born in Caldwell County on Feb. 15, 1940, to the late Gaither Triplett and Carrie Mae Triplett. He was married to Nancy Bivens Triplett of the residence for 51 years.
Mr. Triplett owned and operated Triplett’s Union 76 service station during the 1960s and '70s but later worked in the furniture industry from where he retired. He was a Christian, who loved the Lord and his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchild were the highlight of his life.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Charles Triplett Jr.
Other than his wife, he is survived by his son Robin Triplett and wife Erin; daughter, Tonya Triplett Miller and husband Danny; Kevin and Michelle Summerlin; grandchildren, Brandy Powell Mattson and husband Randall, Sydney Allen, Chandler Summerlin, Christian Triplett, Ireland Triplett, Parker Miller, Spencer Triplett; and great-granddaughter, Alyssa Mattson.
A private graveside service was held for Mr. Triplett on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

Jon Raymond Davis, 76, of Lenoir passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. He was born in Caldwell County to the late Walter M. Davis Sr. and Norma Bryson Davis on Sept. 3, 1937.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph Donald Davis Sr., Wallace Jayhugh Davis, Walter McKinley Davis Jr., and Jack Davis; and two sisters, Dorothy Davis Walker and Barbara Davis Wallace. Jon was a member of Central Advent Christian Church of Lenoir.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Libby Ann Gibbs Davis; son, Jon R. Davis Jr.; two daughters, Sherry Davis Shook and husband Tom, and Kimberly Davis Jenkins and husband Tony; and two brothers, Jeffery Lynn Davis and James Bryan Davis
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Thomas Shook and wife Amy, Kelly Shook Leggette and husband Chris, Jon Michael Shook, Megan Jenkins Childress and husband Bo, TJ Jenkins and wife Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Marley and Cooper Childress, Trey Jenkins, and Harper Shook; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Jon Davis touched a lot of people during his journey in life, with his service as a police officer in Winston-Salem, Superintendent at Davis Wood Products, Lenoir Senior League Coach for 25 years, and a school bus driver for Granite Falls Middle School. Jon was loved by many.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at Central Advent Christian Church. A memorial service will be held in the church sanctuary at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Neal and the Rev. Floyd Boston officiating. Burial will follow at Belleview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Caldwell County or Central Advent Christian Church in Lenoir.
