Linda Walsh

Linda Lee Brown Walsh, 65, of Boomer died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 2 p.m., July 23, 2013, at Little Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Andrews and the Rev. Jerry Kilby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Mrs. Walsh was born Oct. 2, 1947, in Wilkes County to William Green and Lillie Emma Pilkenton Brown. She was a supervisor at Kings Creek Manufacturing and was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Virginia Gambill, Doris Mathis, Iris Brown and Judy Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Stan Von Walsh of the home; one son, Eddie Joe Walsh and wife Angie of Boomer; two grandchildren, Dustin Cole Walsh and Derek Ryan Walsh, both of Boomer; and three sisters, Joyce Caldwell of Wilkesboro, Sandra Brown of North Wilkesboro and Freda Johnson of Wilkesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Rock Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 205, Boomer, NC 28606.

George Price

George Thomas Price, 78, of Hickory passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

Mr. Price was born in Caldwell County to the late Mote Price and Lola Reid Price. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his four brothers, Homer Price, AC Price, Thad Price and Mote Price Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Millie “Annette” Keller Price of the home; his daughter, Cathy Price of the home; his sisters, Edna Ingle of Hudson, Josephine Richards of Drexel and Shirley Richards of Granite Falls; his nieces and nephews, special nephew Joe Keller and special great nieces Danielle and Makayla Ingle. Also to cherish his memory is his beloved dog Hank.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. at New Vision Baptist Fellowship with the Rev. Ashley Crouse and Reverend Carl Hamm officiating. Burial will follow the service at New Vision Baptist Fellowship Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home Tuesday, July 23, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Price, Lee Ingle, Gary Richards, Robert Richards, Arthur Killian and Wayne Peacock.

Lillian Suddreth

Lillian Wilson Suddreth, formerly of Koinonia Apartments, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013, after a period of declining health.

Lillian was born on Sept. 3, 1922, in Morganton to the late John Robert Wilson and Lillie Segal Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Suddreth. They were married for 50 yearss and James was the love of her life. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Wilson, Pauline W. Hill, Louise W. Webb, Lola W. Baker, Myrtle Bass Breidenback, Hattie W. Johnston and Eunice W. Kowolkowski; brothers, Hal Wilson, John Wilson, Robert Wilson; and her son-in-law, Dennis Martin.

During WWII Lillian worked for the Civil Service at the Norfolk Navy Yard in Virginia. After the war she lived in Asheville and graduated from the Asheville Beauty School. She owned Hair Care Beauty Salon and worked as a cosmetologist until she was 80. She was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church for over 5- years. She loved her church and her church family. Lillian was a member of the Eastern Stars Hibriten Lodge No. 262 and was a past Worthy Matron and recently received her 50-year pin.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Diane Suddreth Martin; her cherished granddaughter, Jessica Martin Wilson and husband Andy and her only great-grandson, Lawson; her brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Peggy Suddreth; brother-in-law Jay Suddreth; and sisters-in-law Maude Suddreth and Ruby Woods. Lillian is also survived by a very special friend, Wanda A. Baker, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 24, 2013, from 3 until 4 p.m. at Lower Creek Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held immediately following in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bert Blackburn officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the outstanding staff of Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at Kirkwood. Their kindness and support during this time was invaluable and unforgettable.

Clarence Millsaps

Clarance William Millsaps,  52, of Lenoir, a native of Sweetwater, Tenn., passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at home. He will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Millsaps; brother, Wesley Millsaps; and paternal and maternal grandparents, Lonnie and Ocie Millsaps, and Frank and Ruth Fairweather. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law Natosha and Dennis Crawford, and Tabatha Millsaps, of Lenoir; grandchildren, Teriana Nashana Michaux, Dylan Juandre Michaux and Asher Lee Crawford; father and stepmother Howard and Mary Millsaps of Sweetwater; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and John Fowler, Cleveland, Nancy Brakefield of Massachusetts, Patricia Fletcher, Lisa and Mike Stiles, all of Etowah; brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Cindy Millsaps of Niota; step-sister and spouse, Carolyn and Grady Bingham of Sweetwater; several nieces and nephews. William Russ

William Edward Russ of Hudson passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born Nov. 3, 1964, in Beaufort County, he was the son of Alan Wayne Russ Sr. and Janice E. Russ of Pantego.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother, Alan Wayne Russ Jr. and wife Janice of Granite Falls; and companion Monica Effler of Sawmills; two stepchildren, Caroline Effler and Tyler Effler; three nieces; and three nephews.

The family will receive friends at Bass-Smith Granite on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Hadena Roberts

Hadena E. Roberts, 94, of Hudson passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.

Born Oct. 15, 1918, in Smythe County, Va., Hadena was a daughter of the late Emory Luther and Josephine Johnson Heffinger. She was a former member of the Sandlick United Methodist Church in Sandlick, W.Va. She was a member of the Hudson United Methodist Church. Hadena was a member of the Women’s Home Extension Program and also a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Hadena was a proud homemaker and wonderful mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed doing crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Roberts; a sister, Frances McKinnon; and three brothers, Ernest Heffinger, Preston Heffinger, and Carl Heffinger.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Cottrell of Spring Branch, Texas, Patsy Foster and husband Robert of Hudson, and Barbara Bradley and husband Danny of Berryville, Va. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Hadena’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Tim Brittain officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in the Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Va., on Friday, July 26, 2013, at 2 p.m.
