Oscar “Ham” Randal Hamilton, 92, of Dogwood Vista, Lenoir, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Johnston County to the late Oscar L. and Annie Brown Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Clifton Hamilton and John Lovis Hamilton; and four half-brothers, Albert Lee, Preston Everett, Joseph Everett and Wilbert Everett.
Mr. Hamilton retired in 1968 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, after serving his country for 28 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII, Korean Conflict and the Vietnam era. As a retired gentleman farmer he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also an avid UNC and Atlanta Braves fan.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Sadie Gertrude “Gertie” Hamilton of the home; one son, Robert R. Hamilton and wife Sandy of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Pamela H. West and husband Gerald of Spring Lake, and Audrey F. Hamilton of Sparta; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special nephew, Wilbert Everett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Ralph “Buster” Raster Lindon, 68, of Lenoir passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. Buster was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Caldwell County.
He had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and had worked in the furniture industry.
Mr. Lindon was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ferguson Lindon and a brother, Darius Patterson.
He is survived by his mother, Junie Mae Lindon Patterson of Lenoir; three children, Michael Angelo Kelley of Fremont, Ohio, Janet Ferguson of Fayetteville, and Sally Ferguson of Wilkesboro. He is also survived by his sister, Junie Ineace Patterson of Asheville; brother, Eric Patterson and wife Cindy of Lenoir; sister-in-law, Brenda Patterson of Lenoir; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces nephews and other relatives.
A celebration of Buster’s life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with the Rev. Jimmy Norwood, the Rev. Vernell Patterson and Bishop George Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Haven Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
