Olivia Miller Cooke, 81, formerly of Hildebran, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at Gateway Rehab in Lenoir.
Born April 17, 1932, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Lawrence Avery Miller and Agnes Baker Miller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Franklin Cooke; brother, Lawrence Baker Miller; three sisters: Jolene Cooper, Gwendolyn M. Honeycutt, and Dare M. Brittain.
She was a member of First Methodist Church in Hildebran and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cooke is survived by two brothers, Boyd Thomas Miller and wife Janis of Cape Carteret, and Larry Dean Miller and wife Sandie of Hudson; brother-in-law, Cliff Brittain of Conover; sister-in-law, Ginger Miller of Lenoir; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory.
The family is receiving friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:30 – 2 p.m.

Ray Walter Shell, 54, of Granite Falls passed away on Monday March 31, 2014, at his residence.
A private memorial service will be held on a later date.

Dona Rose Hayes Schauman, 83, of Palmer Place, Hudson, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory.
Faye Chapman Lail
Faye Chapman Lail, 92, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Camelot Manor Nursing Center. She was born in Alexander County on June 13, 1921, to the late Lon and Lucy Chapman. Mrs. Lail was a member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Lail and her son, Bobby N. Lail. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Lail and wife, Linda; Jack Lail and wife, Brenda; daughters, Linda Lail and Brenda Lail; grandchildren, Mark Beane, Tonya Millsaps, Jennifer Bowman and Joanna Lail Harris; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will have a private service at a later date.

Shirley Ann Norris Greer, 78, of Lenoir passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at her residence.
She was born in Watauga County on Aug. 21, 1935, to the late Earl C. Norris and Margaret Norris. She was married to Robert Elton Greer of the residence for 57 years. Mrs. Greer was a member of Tabernacle Advent Christian Church and retired from Tom Brooks Chevrolet-Buick after many years of employment.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Gail Pritchett; granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Williams; great-granddaughter, Morgan Williams; and daughter-in-law, Pam Greer. Other than her husband, she is survived by her son, Robert Elton Greer Jr. and wife Lisa of Taylorsville; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Callaway and husband Chris of Lenoir; and son-in-law, Kenneth Pritchett of Lenoir; grandchildren, James and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Landon, Robert and Laura.
A celebration of Mrs. Greer’s life will be held at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 4 p.m. with Pastor Frank Hall officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Pritchett, Kenneth Pritchett, Ray Powell, Jeff Pennington, Alan Sherrill and Matthew Davis.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Delia MaCansas Chester Clark, 100, of Lenoir passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at Lenoir Health Care.
Mrs. Clark was born in Caldwell County to the late David “Dave” Chester and Dorothy Miller Chester. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kara “Kade” Denver Clark; her sisters, Marie Franklin and Cora Lee Chester; and her brothers, William Perry Chester, Ray Chester and Paul Chester.
She was retired from Shuford Mills, the Hudson cotton mill, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Nolan Denver Clark Sr. and wife Hilda Mae Clark of Lenoir; his daughter, Mildred “Millie” Minton of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Debbie Givens, Dennis Clark, Libby Campbell, Nolan Clark Jr., Joey Clark and Jeanna Guill; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; and a special friend, Linda Hollar Johnson.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hudson with the Rev. Wade Dellinger and the Rev. Mack Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow the service at Colliers United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.
