Roger Flay Godfrey, 59, of McCrary Place, Lenoir, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1954, in Columbia, S.C., to Flay George Godfrey of Lenoir and the late Nellie Harriet Bradley Godfrey. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald (Ronnie) Blaine Godfrey.
Mr. Godfrey was a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors in addition to his father include one brother, Gary Godfrey and wife Eva Mae of Hudson, and two sisters, Wanda Clawson, and Patsy Toon and husband Alfred, both of Lenoir.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Steve Ritch, 65, of Boomer died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Boomer Advent Christian Church with the Rev. David Jones and the Rev. Paul R. Laws officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6 until 8 Friday night.
Mr. Ritch was born in Wilkes County, March 18, 1948, to Elmer (Bud) and Pansy Pearson Ritch. He was a member of Boomer Advent Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ritch was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Williams.
Mr. Ritch is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Dawson Ritch of the home; five daughters, Patricia Saunders of Lenoir, Brandy Ritch and husband Scottie Watson, and Nicole Ritch, all of Boomer, and Kimberley Griffin and Teresa Ritch, both of Lenoir; one son, Brian Ritch and wife Amanda of Hickory; three sisters, Patty Treadway and husband Earnest, Peggy Porter, and Sue Price, all of Boomer; five brothers, Boone Ritch and wife Janice, Burl Ritch and wife Judy, all of Boomer, Danny Ritch and wife Maggie of North Wilkesboro, Buddy Williams and wife Lisa, and Wayne Williams and wife Vickie, all of Boomer; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Boomer Advent Christian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 334, Boomer, NC 28606.

George Franklin Cannon, 59 of Lenoir passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

Sharon Elaine Putignano, 50, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 101-B Countryside Drive, Lenoir.
