Ralph Raymond Hahn, 66, of Bear Run Road, Lenoir, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care – Lenoir. He was born March 14, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Lorne and Evelyn Baskett Hahn.
Mr. Hahn was a self-employed landscaper and was a member of Buffalo Cove Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Greene Hahn of the home; one son, Troy Hahn of Florida; one stepdaughter, Nicole Presnell and husband David of Lenoir; two brothers, Steve Hahn of Indianapolis, Ind., and Buddy Hahn of Raleigh; two sisters, Audrey Wion and husband Ken of Ohio, and Deanna Hahn of Raleigh; and four grandchildren, Sierra Coffey, Hunter Coffey, T.J. Hahn and Breeanna Hahn.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Gary Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mary Lunda Sharpe Wheeler, 93, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Lenoir. She was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Alexander County to the late Grover C. and Lela McLean Sharpe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Lewis Wheeler; three brothers, Woodrow Sharpe, Jack Sharpe and Harry Sharpe; and three sisters, infant sister Cleo, Grace Walker and Lois Norris.
Ms. Lunda was a member of Nazareth Advent Christian Church. She was a retired furniture worker and a blue ribbon quilt maker. She passionately loved flowers of all kinds, her home, and laughter.
Ms. Lunda leaves behind her special caregivers, niece Sarah Walker Watson and husband Jimmie of Lenoir; three grand-nieces, Karen (Nicey) Walker Clarke and husband Jeff, and Cindy Walker Bolick and husband Eddie, all of Collettsville, and Lisa Walker Hamby and husband Harley of Lenoir; one grand-nephew, Joe Watson and wife Tonia of Collettsville; and Linda Walker and Carolyn Walker of Lenoir. She also leaves behind a host of other loved ones -- nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Stanley Townsend. Interment will follow at Nazareth Advent Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Wayne “Cotton” Millard Melton, 68, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir. Born Sept. 8, 1944, in Caldwell County, Mr. Melton was a son of the late John G. and Timmy Taylor Melton.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marsha Melton; three brothers, John Junior Melton, Bud Lowe and Gary Lowe; and two sisters, Betty Melton Greene and Jeanette Small.
Mr. Melton was of the Baptist Faith and worked for the City of Lenoir in the Water/Sewer Department. He will be loved and missed and remembered as “one of a kind.” Everyone will best know him as the best car and junk man in the county.
He is survived by his stepmother, Ella Mae Melton of Lenoir; his life-partner and friend, Sandy Hicks; two daughters, Deanna Gouge and husband Ted of Roan Mountain, and Amanda Melton of Lenoir; his son, Jeff Melton and Renee Sain of Lenoir; his siblings, Bob Melton and wife Betty of Morganton, Bill Melton and wife Irene of S.C., Steve Melton and wife Cynthia of Lenoir, Wilford Bean and wife Linda Sue of Gamewell, Ruby Lowe and Steve Lowe of Granite Falls, and Lorene Lowe of Virginia; grandchildren, Michael Coffey and wife Brittani, Jordan Coffey, Emily Hollar and husband Phillip, Jennifer Melton and fiancée Josh Judd, Noah Calix, and Alex Hicks; and great-grandchildren, Paisley Coffey, Phoenix Hollar and Kaitlyn Hicks. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mr. Melton’s life will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with the Rev. Burl Greer officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5 until 6 p.m.
