To the editor:

The holiday season has arrived. As you contemplate your year-end charitable giving, we want to be sure you’re aware of an opportunity to make a lasting impact in our community.

The Catawba Valley Community Foundation was founded in 1997 and serves Alexander, Caldwell and Catawba counties. We help develop permanent endowments that support the current and future needs of our local community. The Catawba Valley Community Foundation holds 50 funds, including the Catawba Valley Community Endowment, a community grant-making fund that supports nonprofit programs. In 2013, the Catawba Valley Community Foundation has awarded more than $600,000 in grants to local nonprofits and scholarship aid to area students.

Our local foundation is part of the statewide North Carolina Community Foundation. We benefit from our association with this organization that includes 60 local foundations serving 67 counties. Our affiliation with NCCF allows us to provide safe, expert funds administration; support local grantmaking processes; and assist with leadership and resource development.

Since 1997, the Catawba Valley Community Foundation has distributed more than $6 million in local grants and scholarships. Your fully tax deductible gift to the Catawba Valley Community Endowment, or one of our other 49 funds, is a great way to invest in a bright future for the Catawba Valley region.

To learn more contact the NCCF Regional Office in Hickory at 828-328-1237 or jfrancis@nccommmunityfoundation.org. Gifts can be made online at www.nccommunityfoundation.org or mailed to Catawba Valley Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2851, Hickory, NC 28603.

Best wishes for the Holidays.
