Letter: Jobs well done

To the editor:

On Tuesday, June 25, the heavy thunderstorm caused damage at my home. A large tree in my front yard fell, and lightning caused damage to my home and security light. Within minutes after the storm, the Lenoir Fire Department arrived to assist us and stayed on the scene until Duke Power could arrive. These men showed kindness and helpfulness in calming our fears and answering our questions in a polite and courteous manner. I thank them for going the extra mile to help us. Kudos to the Lenoir Fire Department.

The following day, the Lenoir City Street Department under the supervision of J.C. Trivette came with equipment to remove the tree and clean up debris. These men worked in hot conditions and in a short time had the job completed. Again we witnessed people doing service in a professional manner with the highest quality of workmanship and concern for our well-being and need. Kudos to this group of dedicated workers. As a City of Lenoir resident, I am proud of these two departments and the way they did their jobs.
