Letter: Thanks to community for 34 years
To the editor:
It is with great sadness after 34 years, a dwindling membership has forced Caldwell Charter Chapter of American Business Women’s Association to dissolve the local chapter. It has been our privilege and honor to work and raise money for scholarships for local men and women to continue their education. Over these last 34 years we have awarded more than $274,000.
This would not have been possible without the support of the community through donations, golf ads and of course our golfers. The cooperation from Lenoir Golf Club, Cedar Rock and Orchard Hills for the last 24 years has enabled us to put on The Best Local Tournament in the county. Sagebrush Steakhouse and AJ’s Prime Sirloin of Lenoir have provided the best food ever for many of those years.
Over the years we have had many other fund-raisers to help with educational scholarships, but we have also contributed locally to many others, such as providing school supplies in the county, Yokefellow, Shelter Home, Wig Bank, Bethel Colony, Robin’s Nest and many more.
Thank you, Caldwell County, for helping us fulfill our mission and hope you can continue to help others with their needs.
President, Caldwell Charter Chapter of ABWA
