Faith Tabernacle Church will host services celebrating the pastoral anniversary of Pastor Rocky Dula and First Lady Celetha Dula Saturday, July 17 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 18 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be praise singing, praise dancing and praise groups for the services, and Minister Alex Scott will deliver a message during the 11 a.m. service July 18.

The church is located at 1410 Winhurst St., Lenoir, past Whitnel School.

Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, located at the intersection of Ellerwood, Starcross and Alfred Hartley roads, will host “Project Grits,” a country breakfast buffet on Saturday, July 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The breakfast includes ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, gravy, biscuits, pancakes, fruit and beverages. Also, the church will be hosting its Vacation Bible School, beginning on Sunday, July 18 and continuing through Friday, July 23. The theme for this year is “Egypt – Joseph’s Journey From Prison to Palace.” Supper will be served each evening from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the program ending each night at 8:30 p.m. Activities will be available for every age, from nursery to adult. People’s Tabernacle for God will host the 2010 Gospel Fest at Broyhill Park in Lenoir Saturday, July 17 from noon-6 p.m. There will be free food, games and music.

Sunday

Colliers United Methodist Church will host “Galactic Bast” Vacation Bible School Sunday, July 18 through Friday, July 23. VBS starts at 5:30 p.m. Sunday and lasts until 9 p.m. with a hot dog supper. Events Monday-Friday will last from 7-9 p.m. Classes are for toddlers through eighth grade. There will be music, games, crafts and Bible lessons. The church is located on the Connelly Springs Road in the Cajah’s Mountain community.

Hudson United Methodist Church will host “High Seas” Vacation Bible School July 18-22 for ages 3 through fifth grade. Classes will be offered in English and Spanish. A meal will be served from 5:30-6 p.m., followed by the program each night from 6:10-8:10 p.m. Pre-register in English or Spanish by calling 828-728-4525 or visiting online at hudson-umc.org.

North Catawba Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School, starting with a kickoff event Sunday, July 18 at 5:30 p.m. There will be pony rides and more. Zion E & R United Church of Christ’s 11 a.m. worship service July 18 will include a special musical selection by Zion’s Handbell Choir under the direction of Laura Martinat.

Caldwell Baptist Association’s summer quarterly meeting of the Messengers will be Thursday, July 22 at 7 p.m. at Harris Chapel Baptist Church in Hudson. The Rev. Roger Beck, pastor of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, will be the program speaker. Following the program, there will be a missions fair in the fellowship hall.

Friday

Cornerstone Covenant Church will host “Days of Fellowship” July 23, 24 and 25 at the former Williams Supermarket location in Valmead. There will be a guest speaker and special singing Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday at 3 p.m., there will be a giveaway of clothing for children and adults, household and food items along with a meal plus a guest speaker and special singing. The kickoff event will be Saturday, July 24 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Yadkin Valley Community Park on N.C. 268. Activities include a horseshoe pitching contest, chili cook-off, jerky making contest, cowboy softball, wagon rides and a parade. VBS classes will be at the church Sunday, July 25 through Thursday, July 28 from 6 p.m to 8:50 p.m. Activities will include Bible study, crafts, music, recreation and a light meal. Commencement and Family Night will be Friday, July 29 beginning at 6 p.m.

Union Baptist Church, located on Union Baptist Road in the Oak Hill community, is hosting a Community Missions Day on Saturday, July 24. The event serves as a Relay for Life fundraiser and a kickoff for its Vacation Bible School. A shooting match (12-gauge limit) will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by a car show, cookout and activities for children from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Relay for Life cancer fund. Mountain View Baptist Church in Deep Gap will celebrate its 100th anniversary Sunday, July 25 with homecoming services starting at 11 a.m.

Zion E & R United Church will celebrate Christmas in July during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, July 25. The service will begin with special music by Zion’s puppets and will include the dedication of the military wish list items, a special mission moment by a military guest speaker, distribution of Christmas “gift” offering boxes, and special music by the Patsy Hollar Treble Ensemble.
