CHARLES ANDREWS

Mr. Charles Eli Andrews, 92, of Lenoir, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at Shaire Nursing Center of Lenoir. A service to celebrate his life will be 3 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at Crest View Baptist Church in Lenoir. The family will receive at the church prior to the service from 1:30 until 3 p.m. The Rev. Michael Isaacs will officiate the service with eulogy by Mr. Bobby Brooks. Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

Mr. Andrews was born on April 29, 1917 in Caldwell County, son of the late Thomas Horton Andrews and Fannie Artance Craig Andrews. He was a member of Crest View Baptist Church where he sang in the adult choir for over 60 years. He was employed by Caldwell Furniture Company and Thomasville Furniture Company, retiring in 1983.

Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mildred Bryant Andrews; his children, Gail Austin and husband Raymond, and Charlene Moore and husband Ken; Grandchildren, Crystal Austin Bolger and husband Dave, Kerri Austin Gilliam, and Rebecah Moore Shepherd and husband Ray; Great-Grandchildren, Brett Bolger, Brittany Bolger, Brooke Bolger, Jessica Gilliam, Jacob Gilliam, Anna Grace Shepherd and Lily Shepherd; one brother, Leonard Andrews and two sisters, Mabel Hollar and Alma Suddreth. In addition to his parents, Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Andrews and Arvil Andrews and sisters, Vonnie Watson, Mae Bryant and Mary Clark.

ANNA SMITH

Anna "Naomi" Allison Smith, 68, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Mrs. Smith was born in Birmingham, AL to the late Louise Devada Allison and Nannie D. Maddox Allison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Louie Devada Allison, Jr. and Delbert Wayne Allison.

She was a sales representative for several companies including Tiarra Glass for 10 years and a current member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Reid Carlton Smith of the home; two sons, Kevin Noel Coffey and wife, Cher of Madison, Tenn., and Keith Garrett Coffey of Lenoir; two daughters, Karen Coffey Clay and husband Alan of Concord and Katrina Coffey Hensley of Lenoir; a brother, Ray Allison and wife Joyce of Lenoir; sisters, Joy Allison of Fort Worth, Tex., and Wanda Swain and husband Kenny of Newton; two grand children, Kaleb Daniel Hensley and Erin Elizabeth Clay.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Pendry's Chapel with Pastor Aldene Wheeler and the Rev. Randy Gibson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Pendry's Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kaleb Hensley, Glenn Everette, Jr., Devada Allison, Mark Anthony, Michael Anthony, Robbie Wilkie and Bubba Smith.

LINDA GRAGG

Mrs. Linda Sue Gragg, 52, of Hudson, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at her home.

Born April 15, 1957 in Watauga County, Mrs. Gragg was a daughter of Mr. Floyd Enlo Gragg of Lenoir and the late Mary Watson Gragg. Other than her mother, she is preceded in death by a sister Patricia Gragg

Surviving other than her father is her husband, Albert "Bud" Gragg of the home; one daughter, Paula Adams and husband Reece of Hudson; one son, William Thorne of Granite Falls; three sisters, Debbie Auton and husband Bud, Stephanie Greene and husband Jeff and Crystal Jackson, all of Lenoir; four brothers, Junior Gragg and wife Cathy of Hudson; David Gragg and wife Patricia, Marty Gragg and wife Sherry and Tony Gragg, all of Lenoir; five grandchildren, Jessica Prestwood of Granite Falls, Johnathon Prestwood, Jordan Prestwood and Julie Prestwood, all of Hudson, Daniel Thorne of Granite Falls and one great-grandson, Malachi Chow of Granite Falls.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Celia Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Shew, the Reverend Randy Gibson and Brian Auton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 until 2 p.m., prior to the service at the church and at other times at her residence.

Pallbearers will be Reece Adams, Scott Greene, Steven Greene, Buddy Auton, Shannon Gragg and Bobby John Atkins.
