Obituaries for Nov. 19, 2009
Terry W. Wright, 48, of Foxwood Court, Lenoir, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, after a courageous eight-year battle with breast cancer.
She was born Nov. 11, 1961 in Anderson, S.C., to Viva Lee Withers Williams of Hickory and the late James N. Williams.
Mrs. Wright was employed with Cox Manufacturing Company for the last 10 years, where she held the office of vice president. She was a member of Grace Chapel United Methodist Church of Granite Falls and also attended Crossroads Community Church in Lenoir. At Grace Chapel she taught Sunday school, worked with the youth and served in various leadership roles within the church. She was active in the youth prison ministry and Emmaus Ministry. She was also active in the local chapter of Susan G. Komen, which she served as treasurer, Arm & Arm Support Group, Heart of Hope Support Group, The Wig Bank and Crossroads Storehouse Daily Bread Ministry. She was a spokesperson for both New Balance Breast Cancer Awareness and BMW Breast Cancer Awareness. She graduated from South Caldwell High School in Granite Falls and attended Anderson College in Anderson, S.C., with a degree in design.
A loving wife, sister and aunt, Terry is survived by her husband, Richard Wright of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Lynne Kistler and husband Lester, and Ms. Jamie Watson; nephews, Alex and Adam Watson; one brother, James Williams and wife Betsy; nephew, Todd Williams; niece, Kris Holbrook; great-nephew and niece, Jake and Maggie; sister-in-law, Jeanna O'Bryant and husband Patrick; stepdaughter, Toni; and numerous friends and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Grace Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Norman Hubbard, the Rev. Nancy McDow, the Rev. Mitch Wilson and Pastor Rick Bowman.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

FLOYD HOLSCLAW
Floyd W. Holsclaw, 78, of Victoria Court, Lenoir, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Frye Regional Center.
He was born May 21, 1931, in Hendersonville, N.C., to the late Carl and Martha Henderson Holsclaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Roger Holsclaw, Tony Holsclaw and Barry Holsclaw.
Mr. Holsclaw was retired from Singer Furniture.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willis Decker Holsclaw of the home; one son, Jeffrey B. Holsclaw of Lenoir; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Langham and husband Tom of Lenoir; two brothers, Carl W. Holsclaw Jr. of Hickory and Horace Holsclaw of Kennersville; one sister, Mrs. Viola Mikeal of Lenoir; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Charles Brumley.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
