West Caldwell tops Maiden in overtime thriller

The West Caldwell Warriors secured their first conference win of the season Friday night at Maiden, fighting all the way through two overtime periods to beat the Blue Devils 28-27.

It was a hard-fought game for both teams, rife with turnovers, big plays and mistakes, but the Warriors never gave up, and ended up securing the win when they had to–staring down a fourth-and-four on the last play of the second overtime, and making it happen.

Panthers handle West Iredell

For the second consecutive season, the Hibriten Panthers and the West Iredell Warriors combined for 106 points in the opening game of the season, and just like last the 2013 game, Hibriten walked out of the game 1-0.

Devell Maxwell led the way for Panthers, rushing for 209 yards on just nine carries and scoring four times to give Hibriten a 67-39 victory over West Iredell on Friday night in Statesville. Last season, the Panthers defeated the Warriors 69-37.
