Spartans win home meet
The South Caldwell boys’ track team took first place at a home meet on Wednesday in Sawmills.
The South Caldwell girls finished in third, while the Hibriten boys took third and Hibriten girls finished fourth.
The Spartans had a number of top finishers at Wednesday’s meet. For the boys’ individual events, Zane Geiser and Dylan Mathewson placed first and second respectively in the 400 Meter Dash. Kaymon Maddox and Cameron Wright pulled off the same feat in the 200 Meter Dash. Maddox also took second in the 100 Meter Dash and Mathewson was second in the 800 Meter Run. Rhyan Stone was third in the 800. Noah Starnes earned second in the 3200 Meter Run. In the 300 Meter Hurdle, Matthew McBurney and Andy Hall took second and third respectively.
In the relays, South Caldwell won the 4x100 Meter Relay, the 4x200 Meter Relay, 4x400 Meter Relay and the 4x800 Meter Relay.
For the field events, Wright finished second in the Shot Put, while Andrew Ennis was second in the Discus and Grant Trivett took second in the Pole Vault.
For the South girls, Lauren Arrington won the High Jump and already qualified for the Western Regionals. Arrington also placed second in the 200 Meter Dash. Amanda Blevins won the Pole Vault and Rachel Brown took second in the same event. Claire Stoudemire finished second in the Discus and Sarah Vang took second in the Shot Put. Stoudemire also took third in the Shot Put. Mikayla Poulter placed third in the 400 Meter Dash.
For the Hibriten boys, Daquan Suddreth won the long jump, Jon Barrett Lewis won the Shot Put, Ben Dacus won the Pole Vault and Elijah Baker won the High Jump. Matt Cannon placed in the High Jump. Elijah Wakefield claimed third place in the 3200 Meter Run.
For the girls, Julia Sherman won both the Long Jump and 400 Meter Dash, while Cheyenne Calloway won both the Shot Put and Discus. Saidea Davenport was second in the High Jump and fourth in the 200 Meter Dash. Megan Dodd earned fourth place in the 1600 Meter Run.
