Panthers handle West Iredell

For the second consecutive season, the Hibriten Panthers and the West Iredell Warriors combined for 106 points in the opening game of the season, and just like last the 2013 game, Hibriten walked out of the game 1-0.

Devell Maxwell led the way for Panthers, rushing for 209 yards on just nine carries and scoring four times to give Hibriten a 67-39 victory over West Iredell on Friday night in Statesville. Last season, the Panthers defeated the Warriors 69-37.

Panthers overcome early struggles with 28-16 win

The Carolina Panthers had trouble getting back into gear at the beginning of their second preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but came back for a 28-16 victory.

It was Alumni Day at Bank of America Stadium Sunday night. Former Panthers like tackle Jordan Gross, defensive end Mike Rucker, fullback Brad Hoover and wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad made special appearances prior to the game.
