Today

Grandview Park Baptist Church will host a community-wide health fair Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m.-noon. Stroke Center Coordinator Toni Bartlett from Caldwell Memorial Hospital will be doing a free health screening. A light breakfast will be served. Participants should fast for 12 hours so that results will be accurate. Information tables will be set up so people can gather all types of literature and register for door prizes. Mulberry Baptist Church will host a gospel singing Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. featuring The Winebargers.

People's Tabernacle for God will have a pastor's aid program Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. Evangelist Ventriss Genwright will be the speaker.

Storehouse Daily Bread will host a golf tournament Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Coves Golf Course. There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start for the four-person captain's choice format. The cost is $45 per player with prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive, as well as cash prizes for the top finishing teams. Mulligans and skirts are available along with door prizes. Table Rock Baptist Church will host a family gospel festival Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Old Rock School, located at 402 Main St., Valdese. Musicians include Keith "Wonder Boy" Johnson, Virginia Aires, Damon Little and Nu Beginning. A free car will be given away each night.

Wildwood Advent Christian Church will host a singing Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. featuring The Hartley Family.

Cedar Rock Baptist Church will host a singing Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. featuring the group All for Him.

Workers in Harvest will sing during the morning service and again at 2 p.m. Weather permitting, Pastor Sam Abee will deliver the morning sermon from the rooftop because a monetary goal of raising $750 was reached during Vacation Bible School in August.

Harrisburg Baptist Church will host a benefit barbecue to help with Lisa Miller's medical expenses. She is receiving treatments for stage 4 melanoma in Baltimore, Md. The event will be Oct. 9-10 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. each day at the church. Plates are $6 each and include barbecue, slaw, beans, roll and dessert. Tickets will be sold prior to the benefit. Crossroads Community Church invites any family in need to participate in its "Storehouse Daily Bread Ministry." Located in the Fairway Shopping Center in Whitnel, families may come to the church parking lot each Monday between noon and 4:30 p.m. for free groceries.

First Church of God is having a call to prayer at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. Each Saturday when fire alarms sound around Lenoir and Caldwell County at 10 a.m., they ask citizens to stop and pray for the city, world, churches, wars and other issues of concern.

Peoples Tabernacle for God Inc. will feed members of the community from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. every Saturday.
