BOONE (AP) -- Devon Moore rushed for 124 yards and Appalachian State dominated in the running game to defeat North Carolina Central 55-21 on Saturday.

The Mountaineers (3-2) had 407 yards on the ground and six rushing touchdowns.

Appalachian State trailed 14-7 late in the first quarter, but responded with 27 straight points. Armanti Edwards put the Mountaineers ahead 34-14 on a 7-yard run with 3:15 left in the third quarter.

Edwards finished with 97 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, and was 17 of 29 for 237 yards and a touchdown.

After gaining the early lead, the Eagles (0-6) scored just once in the second half, on a 44-yard pass to Andrew Johnson from Michael Johnson early in the fourth quarter.

Michael Johnson was 16 of 23 for 186 yards and two touchdowns for North Carolina Central.

Wingate 50 Lenoir-Rhyne 49

HICKORY -- Perry Floyd scored three touchdowns, including two during a decisive fourth quarter, and Wingate rallied with three unanswered touchdowns to beat Lenoir-Rhyne 50-49 on Saturday at Moretz Stadium.

Justin Sanders ran for 111 yards and one touchdown, Byron Darby added 109 yards and two TDs and James Pone added two short TD runs for the Bears (4-3, 1-2 South Atlantic Conference), who led 49-32 after Major Herron's 2-yard TD run with 11:18 left in the fourth quarter.

But Floyd returned the ensuing kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown, then pulled in a 43-yard TD pass from Cody Haffly with 7:30 left to cut L-R's lead to 49-44. Nelson Woods then put Wingate on top with his 1-yard TD run with 43 seconds remaining.

Haffly threw for 311 yards and three TDs for Wingate (5-1, 3-0).

North Carolina 42 Ga. Southern 12

CHAPEL HILL (AP) -- Ryan Houston rushed for three touchdowns and Quan Sturdivant returned a fumble 49 yards for a score, one of six turnovers forced by North Carolina during a 42-12 rout of Georgia Southern on Saturday.

Bruce Carter brought back an interception 41 yards for a TD and the defense set up two quick scoring drives with takeaways for North Carolina (4-2).

Wake Forest 42 Maryland 32

WINSTON-SALEM (AP) -- Riley Skinner threw for 360 yards and a career-high four touchdowns Saturday, shattering the Wake Forest record for yards passing in a career in a 42-32 victory over Maryland.

Chris Givens caught five passes for 116 yards and two scores for the Demon Deacons (4-2, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who moved into first place in the Atlantic Division by shredding Maryland's suspect defense.

Virginia 47, Indiana 7

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Mikell Simpson ran for four touchdowns and cornerback Ras-I Dowling forced two turnovers to set up scores as Virginia defeated Indiana 47-7 on Saturday.

Jameel Sewell passed for 308 yards as Virginia rolled up more than 500 yards total offense for the first time since 2004.

Buffalo 40 Gardner-Webb 3

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Zach Maynard had 232 yards passing and three touchdowns and Buffalo raced to a big halftime lead in a 40-3 win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday.

ELON (AP) -- Scott Riddle threw for 230 yards and two touchdown and Elon buried Citadel 43-7 on Saturday.

Davidson 16 Morehead State 10

DAVIDSON (AP) -- Michael Blanchard rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns to lead Davidson to a 16-10 victory over Morehead State on Saturday.

Dayton 35 Campbell 17

BUIES CREEK (AP) -- Steve Valentino rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Dayton beat Campbell 35-17 on Saturday.

Morgan St. 7, N.C. A&T 6

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Devan James ran for a 7-yard touchdown in the first quarter and Morgan State held on for a 7-6 victory over North Carolina A&T on Saturday. The Bears (4-1, 2-0 MEAC) are 4-1 for the first time in 30 years.
