The fifth annual Haunted Lenoir Walking Ghost Tours will hit the streets Friday, Oct. 30 with a new theme. This year’s event will offer its usual bevy of scary stories and historic downtown sites, but with a new twist – “Decades.”

Haunted Lenoir’s Decades Walking Ghost Tour will feature information for tourists on the history of the each stop and the decades in which they were constructed. After a visit with each history-teller, tour participants will enter the buildings selected for this year’s tour to enjoy a good old-fashioned bit of fright.

“It’s our goal to provide a unique event each year,” said Deborah Ashley, president of the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce. “Tour goers this year will enjoy learning about the history of some new locations and experiencing some definitely new scares. Haunted Lenoir’s Walking Ghost Tour is like no other ghost tour we’ve seen anywhere; we like to change it up a bit each year so that it always remains a truly special ghost walk event.”

The event returns – rain or shine – to downtown Lenoir Friday, Oct. 30 to once again add Halloween festivities. This year’s tours will begin at The Rankin House in the parking lot of First Baptist Church of Lenoir. Tour times begin at 7:30 p.m. The last tour is scheduled to begin at 10:50 p.m. Participants should arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of their tour’s start time.

Tickets for Haunted Lenoir’s Decades Walking Ghost Tour are $10 each. Early tour participants can choose to take advantage of a new ticket option this year: a $15 ticket that includes both a pre-tour dinner at Sister Futs Café. (menu to be determined; dinner served until 9 p.m.) and a ticket for Haunted Lenoir’s Decades Walking Ghost Tour.

Following the final four tours, The Wine Cellar & Bistro again will host The Bloody Bistro’s Midnight Boofet, complete with all-you-can-eat pastas, soups, sweets, coffee and tea. The cost is $25 per person and includes both admission to Haunted Lenoir’s Decades Walking Ghost Tour and The Bloody Bistro’s Midnight Boofet. Wine and beer can be purchased at The Bloody Bistro’s Midnight Boofet for those ages 21 and older who show valid identification.

Do not bring anyone under the age of 13 to Haunted Lenoir’s Decades Walking Ghost Tour; those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Remember that this is a walking tour. Put on comfortable walking shoes, and enjoy an evening of fun and fright with Haunted Lenoir’s Decades Walking Ghost Tour. Tickets are on sale now at the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce.

This event is organized as a fundraiser for The Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce by the Chamber Ambassadors. For tickets, more information or to learn how you can become an Ambassador, call the Chamber at 828-726-0616.
