Granite Falls coffee shop plans grand opening
Jiving Java, located in downtown Granite Falls, will be celebrating its grand opening event Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31.
The coffee shop is located at 18 South Main Street in Granite Falls.
Jiving Java is open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
Jiving Java will be opening in the downtown area of Granite Falls and looks forward to serving the community for years to come.
In addition to coffee, Jiving Java also has a bakery and gift shop while offering complimentary Wifi and Direct TV to customers.
The coffee shop also will be displaying rotating exhibits of local artists. Currently on display is an impressive exhibition of paintings by Hickory artist Robert Wicklin. Many of Wicklin's works are focused on the theme of jazz music.
Coffee shop owners Rick Parkinson and Shayna Poplin are very pleased to have Wicklin as their first featured artist. Wicklin is a prominent area artist and has been painting for more than 20 years.
Jiving Java also has an exhibition of memorabilia from the owners' experiences working in the Hollywood film industry. On display are signed photos of actors Bruce Willis, Richard Gere, David Caruso and many more. Also on display are great movie stills from "For Richer or Poorer," "Jungle Book" "Cinderella" and others.
Owner Rick Parkinson has worked on more than 80 films, most recently: "James Bond - Quantum of Solace," "Jonah Hex," and "The Genesis Code," expected to be released in December. Copies of "Belle Witch - The Movie," which has not yet been released, are available for purchase in the gift shop.
