Members of the Granite Falls community voted in favor of experience Tuesday by re-electing all three incumbents and a former councilman.

Unofficial results show that Barry Hayes will serve another four years as mayor after receiving 285 votes. He will be joined by incumbents Dr. Caryl Burns (230) and Frank Mackie (198). Former councilman Max McRary rejoins the council after surpassing Linda Teague by a margin of less than 20 votes.

"We have a lot to look forward to in Granite Falls, and I think this council will continue to work together to do what is best for the citizens," Hayes said. "With (Town Manager) Linda Story leaving and Jerry (Church) coming in, it will be good to have a stable council that works well together. I congratulate everyone and want to show my appreciation to all those who ran this year."

Burns said she is thankful to everyone who re-elected her to the council. She said she feels honored that the citizens trust her to move forward and promises to give it her best. She said she wants to work closely with her fellow council members to see that Granite Falls continues to be a great place to live and work.

"I am very excited to see that the citizens want me to work with the town again," Burns said. "It's been hard work, but I am going to give it my all. I am ready to role up my sleeves and get to work."

Others to receive votes Tuesday were Linda Teague with 164 votes and Robert A. (Chip) Tunstall III, who received 106 votes.

"I want to congratulate both Linda and Chip for their dedication to serving the town," Hayes said. "I applaud Chip for his service to our country and desire to represent the town as well. I hope the both of them will stay involved and run again."
