George Robinson withstood a challenge from Rose Reighard to retain his position as mayor for the Village of Cedar Rock.

Robinson will serve another four-year term as the village's mayor after edging Reighard by a mere six votes. He garnered 78 votes to Reighard's 72, though vote totals are unofficial until next week's election canvass takes place.

"Again, I'm just honored and humbled that folks elected me," Robinson said upon learning the results of the election. "There are a lot of decisions to be made, but with the council we have, I feel we're up to the task."

Robinson has served as Cedar Rock's mayor since 1997 when the village was incorporated.

"I look forward to leading our village as we make these tough decisions and move forward," he said.

Three council seats also were available in the village, with Sharon Schmidt, R.L. Bush Jr. and Howard Edwards gaining the positions. Schmidt filled an unexpired term in 2007 and earned a full term during this election with 117 votes, while Bush was elected to serve on the council again with 109 votes. Edwards was the lone newcomer, gaining the council seat previously held by Robert Greer with 114 votes

The trio will serve four-year terms with the village's council along with Bill Johnson and Bob Floyd.

Cajah's Mountain

In the Town of Cajah's Mountain, Ronnie Setzer and Lois Andes ran unopposed in their bids to return to the council, staying on board with fellow members Jerry Woods, Allen Stewart and Jeff Bolick.

Setzer has served as mayor the last four years, a position appointed by council members. The Cajah's Mountain Town Council will appoint its mayor again from the five members.

Setzer will serve his second four-year term, while Andes remains with the council for another term. She has been a Cajah's Mountain council member since incorporation of the town in 1983.
