Joshua Nelson

Joshua Daniel Nelson, 22, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at his residence. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 11 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Whitnel. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Pendry’s Funeral Home.



John Scheno

John Scheno, 84, of Lee Roy Lane, Lenoir, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

He was born May 23, 1925. in Long Island City, N.Y., to the late Paul and Angelina Miano Scheno.

Mr. Scheno was retired from the Department of Recreations for the Town of Babylon, N.Y. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Concetta Lofredo Scheno of the home; three sons, Paul Scheno and wife Dawn of Long Island, N.Y., David Scheno and wife Pam of Franklin, N.C., and Kenneth Scheno and wife Allyson of Mt. Vernon, Maine; two daughters, Mrs. Linda Burke and husband Henry of Queens, N.Y., and Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Baier and husband Martin of Lenoir; one brother, Antonio Scheno of Long Island, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in New York at a later date.
