EUGENE SIMES

Eugene Byrd Simes, Jr., 47, of Lenoir, died early Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Eugene was born March 18, 1962, in Lancaster, Pa., to the late Eugene Bird and Elsie Violet Ream Simes Sr.

Mr. Simes was a member of the Walking by Faith Baptist Church, where he helped with the church’s youth group. He enjoyed singing and spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Karen Simes of the home; two daughters, Brittany Simes and Cindy Simes, both of Lenoir; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lori and Keith Howell, Bonnie and Tom Shimko, and Jessie Gallup; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Vern and Beth Ream, and David Ream; two grandchildren, Marybeth Simes and Carl Hise; he also is survived by numerous other relatives.

A Celebration of Mr. Simes’ life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at the Walking By Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Ford officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Walking By Faith Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Preston Laws, James Townsend, Russell Townsend, William Woods, John Ford, Alan Berry, Jesse Reynolds and James Crump.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. at the church.
