Day 3 Church will host a concert to benefit the Old Glory Veteran’s Transitional Base Saturday, Nov. 28 from 6-8 p.m. Music will be provided by Toni Carlton, UTH and Elishah. The concert is free, but a love offering will be taken to support veterans.

The church is located at 4365 Hickory Blvd., Granite Falls.

St. Paul A.M.E. Church’s Women’s Missionary Society will host its annual Holiday Extravaganza Saturday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Post 29 American Legion home, located at 401 N. Main St., Lenoir. Tickets for the event are $10. For more information, call 758-2415.

Bushtown Mennonite Brethren Church will host an old-fashioned singing Sunday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. Voices of Grace and Voices of Victory will be featured.

Calvary Advent Christian Church will begin the Advent season by celebrating the Hanging of the Greens service Sunday, Nov. 29 at 10:30 a.m. The adult choir will lead the service, and the children and youth will be assisting.

The church is located on Delwood Drive in Lenoir.

Center Grove Baptist Church will host the Hanging of the Greens service Sunday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. There also will be a Brotherhood breakfast in the fellowship hall at 8:30 a.m. prior to the morning worship service the same day.

The church is located at 3176 Deal Mill Road, Hudson.

Central Baptist Church will host a fifth Sunday singing Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. featuring The Riverside Boys.

Colliers United Methodist Church will host its Hanging of the Greens service Sunday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m.

Freedom Independent Baptist Church will host revival services Nov. 29-Dec. 2 with Evangelist Dana Williams speaking. For more information, call 754-4756.

Kings Creek Baptist Church will host a performance by the Christmas in the Blueridge Band Sunday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. Band members Rick and Sandy Kirby, Gloria Coffey, Eric Ellis, Jim Smith, Keith and Earlene Winebarger, and special guest David Johnson will present a program of bluegrass country music on several types of instruments.

People’s Tabernacle Church for God, Inc. will have Family and Friends Day Sunday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. The speaker will be First Lady Evangelist Sloan. A meal will be served following the service. There will not be a breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 28.

Vision, Hope and Peace Church will have Minister Edward McGimpsey as a guest speaker Sunday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.

Zion E & R United Church of Christ’s Brotherhood will host an Advent breakfast Sunday, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. in Whitener Hall. A special Hanging of the Greens worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Advent wreath family candle lighting will be included in the service, and the choir will perform several musical selections. “What Do You Want for Christmas?,” a four-week Advent Study for adults written by James W. Moore, begins Nov. 29 and will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Whitener Hall. A light meal of soup and sandwiches will be held immediately following the Advent study.

Thursday

Littlejohn United Methodist Church will host its annual presentation of The Christmas Trail Dec. 3, 4, 5 and 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Lelia Tuttle Memorial Park, located at 4010 Hartland Road in the Gamewell community. The trail is a 30-minute, quarter-mile walk through an outdoor presentation of the Christmas story. Admission is free, and hot chocolate will be available. Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church will host a benefit singing for Mickey Jones Friday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. Singers include Potters Clay, the Hartley Family and Stephanie Spencer. Call 757-3306 for more information.

Harrisburg Baptist Church will host a youth rally Friday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Brother Michael Orman from the Love of God Baptist Church in Thomasville, with special music provided by the Ostwalt Baptist Church of Troutman. Lenoir First Wesleyan Church will have a spaghetti supper Friday, Dec. 4 from 5-8 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The proceeds will benefit families in need. Takeouts will be available. The church also will hold its Angel Food Ministries order day for the December menu the same day from noon-7 p.m. in the church office. It will be the last day to order from December’s menus.

Mountain Grove Church singles invite other singles over the age of 35 to join them for a covered dish supper in the church fellowship area at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. Those attending should bring their favorite dish along with a wrapped $5 gift.There will be games, and the Condas family from Taylorsville will share their testimony and sing. Clover Baptist Church will host a Christmas concert with Benton & Company Sunday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

Colliers United Methodist Church will host its White Christmas service with a carol sing Sunday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. Canned goods will be distributed to needy families.

College Avenue Baptist Church will present an Alpine Village Christmas Dec. 11, 12 and 13 at the old Lenoir High School gymnasium from 6-8 p.m. The village will be complete with snow, street lamps, Alpen horns, a village church, clock tower, puppet show and 10 quaint shoppes. Children ages 3-10 (accompanied by an adult) will receive small gifts. Admission is free.

The Lenoir High gymnasium is located across from College Avenue Baptist Church on College Avenue in Lenoir.

Grandview Park Baptist Church will have a Christ in Christmas service Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Soup and sandwiches will be served, and coats, blankets and other personal items will be handed out to those in need.

Mountain Grove Church singles invite single people over the age of 35 to join them Saturday, Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at church to attend a 3 p.m. showing of “The Promise” at Tri-City Church in Conover. The cost for the play is $8. Money is due by Dec. 1. Afterward, the group will go to Boxcar Grille to eat. COPS 4 CHRIST Ministries will host a crusade in Lenoir Jan. 31-Feb. 5, 2010, at Cedar Rock Baptist Church. The Sunday meeting will be at 6 p.m., with services the rest of the week at 7 p.m. There will be a prayer room 20 minutes prior to each service, and there will be testimony and youth services provided. Some of the evangelists/pastors/groups attending will be from other states.

Miscellaneous

Crossroads Community Church invites any family in need to participate in its “Storehouse Daily Bread Ministry.” Located in the Fairway Shopping Center in Whitnel, families may come to the church parking lot each Monday between noon and 4:30 p.m. for free groceries.

First Church of God is having a call to prayer at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. Each Saturday when fire alarms sound around Lenoir and Caldwell County at 10 a.m., they ask citizens to stop and pray for the city, world, churches, wars and other issues of concern.

Prayer Mountain Victorious Church hands out food on Saturdays at 11 a.m.. The church is seeking donations of food or money to be used for food purchases for its food ministry. To donate, call 828-726-6125 or mail to P.O. Box 506, Hudson, NC 28638.

Results Ministries will pray for those in need. Call 726-6891 with prayer requests.

English Lenoir Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnessess, 101-B Countryside Drive SE, Lenoir, is offering weekly Bible discussions Sundays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
