TOMMY HARRIS

Mr. Tommy Lee Harris, Sr., 79, of Gastonia, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Brian Center. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by two brothers, Sammie F. Harris and D.H. Harris.

Born in Caldwell County, NC, he was the son of the late Edgar Eugene Harris and Juda Braswell Harris.

Mr. Harris worked as a Parts Salesman in the Automotive Industry. He was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle, a Mason and Shriner, as well as a collector of antique cars. He also loved playing the piano and organ.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Norma Dixon Harris; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy, Jr. and Gail Harris, and Jimmy and Pamela Harris, all of Gastonia; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Loretta Harris of Gastonia; grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Justin and Annie; great-grandchildren, Ravin and Faith.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the Rev. Ralph Carver and the Rev. James Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the funeral home.
