College Avenue Baptist Church will present an Alpine Village Christmas Dec. 12 and 13 at the old Lenoir High School gymnasium from 6-8 p.m. The village will be complete with snow, street lamps, Alpen horns, a village church, clock tower, puppet show and 10 quaint shoppes. Children ages 3-10 (accompanied by an adult) will receive small gifts. Admission is free.

The Lenoir High gymnasium is located across from College Avenue Baptist Church on College Avenue in Lenoir.

Grandview Park Baptist Church will have a Christ in Christmas service Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Soup and sandwiches will be served, and coats, blankets and other personal items will be handed out to those in need.

Indian Hills Baptist Church will host a Christmas drive-through Nativity Saturday, Dec. 12 from 7-9 p.m. The event will take participants on a journey to Bethlehem while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies as they listen to Christmas carolers.

Lenoir First Wesleyan Church will host its Angel Food distribution Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m.-noon in the fellowship hall. January orders also can be placed in the church office.

Mountain Grove Church singles invite single people over the age of 35 to join them Saturday, Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at church to attend a 3 p.m. showing of “The Promise” at Tri-City Church in Conover. The cost for the play is $8. Money is due by Dec. 1. Afterward, the group will go to Boxcar Grille to eat. Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church will host a yard sale Saturday, Dec. 12 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. All proceeds will go to world missions.

Zion E & R United Church of Christ members will travel to the Old Salem Candle Tea on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Colliers United Methodist Church will host its handbell choir in concert Sunday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m.

The church is located on Connelly Springs Road in the Cajah’s Mountain community.

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will present its annual Christmas play “The Best Christmas Present Ever” Sunday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. Cookies, cake, hot cider, hot chocolate and soft drinks will be served after the play.

The church is located at 4948 Burns Road, Granite Falls.

Emmanuel Baptist Church will host revival services Sunday, Dec. 13 through Wednesday, Dec. 16 with Evangelist Dr. Milford Biddle of Easley, S.C., as the featured speaker. Enon Baptist Church’s Music Ministry will present “The Heart of Christmas” Sunday, Dec. 13 p.m. at 7 p.m. The program will feature the Adult Sanctuary Choir, Teens/College and Career, Children’s Choir and various solos and duets. Soloists include Sierra Anderson, Delanie Dobson, Jacque Garner, Marcie McGinnis, Kerri Piercy, Hannah Propst, Jeff Robinson and Mike Williams. Candace Robinson and Terry Brawley will perform the duet “I Will Be Your Servant.” The program will include a special video presentation and the Draughn High School Drumline, Dustin Hull (director), performing “The Little Drummer Boy” with Enon combined choirs. A nursery will be provided for small children.

First United Methodist Church of Lenoir’s Chancel Choir will be accompanied by harpist Grace Wepner to perform “A Ceremony of Carols, Op.28,” by Benjamin Britten during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, Dec. 13.

Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church will host a pew rally Sunday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Lenny Moore as the guest speaker.

Union Grove Baptist Church’s children’s choir will present “The Christmas Present” Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.

Zion E & R United Church of Christ will celebrate the third Sunday of Advent during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, Dec. 13. The Advent Wreath candlelighting will be included in the service, and Zion’s Cchoir will perform several musical selections. “What Do You Want for Christmas?” Adult Advent Bible Study will be held in Whitener Hall from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and a light meal will be shared immediately following the Bible Study time.

The 39th annual Interracial Christmas service will be held Sunday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Lenoir Community Church, 1002 Lower Creek Drive in Lenoir. More than 10 churches will participate in the program along with the middle school choruses from Gamewell and William Lenoir. The theme of this year’s program is “Love Came Down at Christmas.” As has been customary, the evening will conclude with a candlelighting service. The community is invited to bring a plate of cookies, enjoy the program, and join the fellowship hour after the program.

Wednesday

COPS 4 CHRIST Ministries will host a crusade in Lenoir Jan. 31-Feb. 5, 2010, at Cedar Rock Baptist Church. The Sunday meeting will be at 6 p.m., with services the rest of the week at 7 p.m. There will be a prayer room 20 minutes prior to each service, and there will be testimony and youth services provided. Some of the evangelists/pastors/groups attending will be from other states.

Miscellaneous

Crossroads Community Church invites any family in need to participate in its “Storehouse Daily Bread Ministry.” Located in the Fairway Shopping Center in Whitnel, families may come to the church parking lot each Monday between noon and 4:30 p.m. for free groceries.

First Church of God is having a call to prayer at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. Each Saturday when fire alarms sound around Lenoir and Caldwell County at 10 a.m., they ask citizens to stop and pray for the city, world, churches, wars and other issues of concern.

Peoples Tabernacle for God Inc. will feed members of the community from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. every Saturday.

Prayer Mountain Victorious Church hands out food on Saturdays at 11 a.m.. The church is seeking donations of food or money to be used for food purchases for its food ministry. To donate, call 828-726-6125 or mail to P.O. Box 506, Hudson, NC 28638.

English Lenoir Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnessess, 101-B Countryside Drive SE, Lenoir, is offering weekly Bible discussions Sundays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
