In Lenoir, she and Mr. Terrell had three more sons, Thomas Groom Terrell Jr., Gerard Joseph Terrell (deceased) and Stephen Dudley Terrell.
In 1968 Mrs. Terrell lost her sister Sally, who left behind two young children, Katherine Rich Whalen(Brown) and James Bruce Whalen. Mrs. Terrell included them in her family whenever possible.
Mrs. Terrell was a dedicated wife and mother. She was active in the Lenoir Service League the Catholic Church, and all her boys’ school activities. She was a champion tennis player.
When her husband retired in the 1970s, they moved back south to be near all the Terrell family and lived on the water in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. They traveled extensively and enjoyed friends and family. They were blessed with and enjoyed nine grandchildren.
Her husband, Tom, also died on Feb. 3, 14 years ago. Mrs. Terrell spent the last seven years back in Lenoir, N.C., in the home her step-mother built, surrounded by many dear friends and with family nearby.
