PATTY CRUMP

Patty Mary Pope Crump, 70, of Hudson, went home to be with the Lord and her husband Joe on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

Born January 6, 1940 in Caldwell County, Patty was a daughter of Virginia Garland Pope and the late Clyde Lee Pope. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harry Crump; and two brothers, Roddy Gene Pope and Max Garland Pope.

Patty worked for many years as a data processing technician. She was a member of Hudson First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Patty had perfect attendance at church and Sunday school for 38 years and will also be remembered for helping many years with the church's Wednesday evening meals.

Surviving are two daughters, Toni Crump James and Randy Yancey of Granite Falls, and Traci Crump Miller, husband Robby, of Hudson; her twin sister, Peggy and Asial Barlow of Lenoir; two brothers, Garry and Judy Pope of Lenoir, and Dale and Dee Pope of Meridan, Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Dianne Pope of Kingsport, Tenn.; a special niece, Kelly Barlow Hawkins, husband Todd, of Lenoir; a special nephew, Kerry Barlow, wife Susan, of Lenoir; four grandchildren, Kristen James, Chasity Miller, Caleb Miller, and Chase Miller; a special friend, Alda Triplett of Hudson; she is also survived by numerous other relatives..

A celebration of Patty's life will take place on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Hudson First Baptist Church with Dr. Wade Dellinger and the Rev. Jim Hamby officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Sardis cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lynn Crump, Wesley Crump, Jeff Crump, Gene Fletcher, Stacey Triplett, Jeff Almond, Caleb Miller and Ty Kistler. Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Barlow, Chase Miller, Jakob Barlow and Kameron Hawkins.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hudson First Baptist Church.

THURMAN PATTON

Thurman Franklin Patton, 76, of Celia Creek Rd. in Lenoir died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Sossoman Funeral Home.

BYNUM PRESNELL

Bynum "Bob" L. Presnell, 74, of Gamewell, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at the residence.

He was born September 27, 1935 in Caldwell County to the late Clarence H. and Ora Miller Presnell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Haskel Presnell, Roger Presnell and J.D. Presnell; and two sisters, Eula Miller and Geneva Suddreth.

Mr. Presnell was retired from the United States Air Force and was of the Baptist faith. He also was a truck driver, race car driver and the First Golden Wrench Award recipient at Tri-County Speedway.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Coffey Presnell of the home; four sons, Steven D. Presnell, Brian K. Presnell and wife Susan, Mark L. Presnell and wife Amy, and Robert L. Presnell and wife Kathy, all of Lenoir; one daughter, Miss Cynthia L. Presnell of Lenoir; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Honeycutt of Lenoir; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Gyles Widener and the Rev. Renee Easter. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kurt Presnell, Scott Presnell, Brian Presnell II, Ronnie Staley, Jeremy Prevatt and Brice Nix.
